SDI claim closed at 52 weeks - Can't access history for extension. Help with EDD?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my SDI benefits. My claim just hit the 52-week mark and now it's closed. My doctor says there's something I need to do before they can finish their part for an extension, but I can't access any of my claim history or submitted forms because it's closed. Has anyone been through this before? What should I do when I finally get through to EDD? Any advice would be super helpful!

I found a way to solve accessing closed SDI claim history, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yZElYxw3ho

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’How long did you have to wait after using this service?

β’It took about 45 minutes, but I was doing other stuff while the service was on hold. When it connected, my phone rang and I was talking to an agent!

β’It might be expensive, but if it saves time and stress, it could be worth it. Sometimes peace of mind is priceless!

Hey OP, I know it's frustrating dealing with EDD, but consider trying Claimyr if you have the means. It might be a bit costly, but many have found it helpful to bypass long waiting times. However, always be cautious about third-party services and ensure they are legitimate. Itβs also beneficial to explore free avenues first, like the ones mentioned here, before committing to spending money. Ultimately, the choice is yours, and whichever path eases your process is valuable.

β’Tech issues are the worst. Maybe try clearing your cache or using a different browser?

I've heard rumors that EDD is changing their policies for extensions. Anyone know if thats true?

β’I haven't heard anything concrete, but wouldn't surprise me. They're always moving the goalposts π

β’My cousin works for the state (not EDD) and she said they're swamped with backlog. Might explain the changes?

β’If true, any policy change would affect a lot of people. Best to stay informed through their official updates.

have you tried faxing your doctor's office? sometimes they can pull up old forms and resend them. worth a shot!

β’That's a good point. You can also ask if they have any digital records they can email to you.

Ugh, the EDD system is such a nightmare. I've been there, buddy. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD first thing in the morning. Like, set an alarm for 7:55 AM. 2. When you get through, explain that your claim is closed and you need to extend SDI benefits past 52 weeks. 3. Ask them how to reopen or extend a closed claim. 4. Get specific about what forms or docs you need. 5. Write down EVERYTHING they tell you. Good luck! The system is designed to make you give up, but don't let them win!

β’Totally agree! Persistence is key. I had to call multiple times before I got all my questions answered. Don't give up!

Have you considered reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through with EDD. Worked for me when I was stuck in limbo for months.

β’That's a great idea! Politicians can sometimes expedite issues faster. Worth a shot!

Unpopular opinion: maybe it's time to look for work? 52 weeks is a long time to be on disability...

β’I appreciate the thought, but my doctor says I'm not ready to return to work yet. Trust me, I'd rather be working!

Hey OP, make sure you ask about Form DE 2525XX. That's the one for SDI extensions. Had to dig deep to find that info!
