SDI auto payment shows online after July 4th holiday but no deposit yet - anyone else?
I certified for my pregnancy disability last week and it shows 'auto payment' on my SDI Online account but the money hasn't hit my account yet. I'm thinking maybe it's delayed because of the July 4th holiday? This is my first payment since starting my pregnancy leave and I'm getting anxious because my rent is due soon. Has anyone else who's on pregnancy SDI seen delays with their payments this week? Just wondering if it's the holiday or if there's something wrong with my claim. Also, does anyone know if we'll get paid today (Friday) or will it be pushed to Monday now?

•Thanks! It's my first time on disability so I wasn't sure what to expect. Monday will be cutting it close for rent but at least I know it's normal.

I'm also on pregnancy SDI and experienced the same thing during Memorial Day. The 'auto payment' status showed up on time, but the actual deposit was delayed by 2 business days. For holidays, EDD processing seems to get backed up, and then banks have their own processing times on top of that. If it shows 'auto payment' though, that's a good sign - it means the money is approved and on its way!

•That's reassuring! I was worried something was wrong with my claim. Did you have to do anything special for your first payment or did it just show up eventually?

•Nope, nothing special needed! Once it shows 'auto payment' the system has processed it. The money should appear in your account without any further action from you. Just depends on your bank's processing time now.

I'VE BEEN ON PREGNANCY DISABILITY SINCE MAY and they ALWAYS delay payments after holidays!!! Sometimes even regular payments take forever to process. One time I waited A WEEK after it said "auto payment" before I got my money. The EDD system is so broken!!!! They don't care that we have bills to pay on time. My landlord doesn't accept "sorry EDD is slow" as an excuse for late rent.

•A whole week?? That's scary. I hope mine doesn't take that long. I'm already stressing about making rent on time.

Holiday delays are definitely normal with EDD SDI payments. The important distinction is between the payment processing date (when it shows as 'auto payment') and the actual deposit date. During normal weeks, there's typically a 1-2 business day gap between those dates. Holiday weeks can extend that to 2-3 business days. Since your payment was processed right around July 4th, which fell on a Thursday this year (2025), your deposit will likely arrive on Monday. The payment processing likely happened Wednesday before the holiday, but then the banking system delays kicked in because of the holiday. If you need to contact EDD about this or any future payment issues, good luck getting through their phone lines! I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they'll connect you to an EDD representative much faster than calling directly. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! That timeline makes sense. I'll try to be patient through Monday. And thanks for the tip about Claimyr - definitely saving that for future reference. Those EDD wait times are brutal!

•I used that Claimyr thing too when my certification got stuck on pending for 3 weeks. It actually worked! Got through to someone in like 15 minutes instead of spending all day calling and getting disconnected.

Just another perspective - I'm currently on SDI for a back injury (not pregnancy), and I had the exact same situation during the Christmas/New Year holidays. The system had processed my payment (showed "auto payment") but the money didn't show up until 3 business days later. One thing to note: if you have Bank of America for your EDD debit card, their processing can add an extra day compared to direct deposit to your personal bank account. For future payments, you might want to set up direct deposit if you haven't already - it's generally faster.

•Oh that's good to know about the Bank of America card vs direct deposit! I did set up direct deposit to my credit union so hopefully that helps speed things up a bit once it's processed.

•PFL (Paid Family Leave) and SDI (State Disability Insurance) are administered by the same department at EDD, so yes, they use similar payment systems. Both can experience the same holiday delays.

I went through this same situation during my pregnancy leave last year. EDD's payment system runs on business days, not calendar days. When there's a federal holiday like July 4th, everything gets pushed back. The good news is that once your payment shows as "auto payment" in the system, it's been approved and is just working its way through the banking processes. For my pregnancy disability claim, I found that payments generally followed this pattern: - Certification date - Processing (1-2 business days) - "Auto payment" status appears - Bank processing (1-2 business days) - Money in account Holidays add extra days to both the EDD processing and the bank processing. So what normally might take 2-4 days total can take 4-6 days during holiday weeks. Additionally, if this is your first payment, it sometimes takes a bit longer as they establish everything in the system. Just keep checking your account - I bet you'll see it Monday!

•Thank you for breaking down the timeline like that! It helps to understand the process better. And good to know first payments might take longer - that's probably a factor too. I'll keep an eye out for it on Monday and try not to worry too much over the weekend.

Update: The payment hit my account this morning (Monday)! Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Now I know what to expect for future payments when holidays come around.

So glad everything worked out for you! This is really helpful info for other new parents going through the same thing. I'm due in a few months and was already worried about the payment timing with my disability leave. Now I know to expect delays around holidays and that "auto payment" status is a good sign. Thanks for updating us with the resolution - it's nice to see these posts have happy endings!

•Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! Yeah, this thread definitely eased my anxiety about the whole process. One tip I'd add for when you start your leave - maybe build in a few extra days buffer for your first payment if possible, especially if it coincides with any holidays. The stress of wondering if/when the money will come is real when you have bills due! Also that Claimyr service someone mentioned seems like it could be a lifesaver if you run into any issues with your claim.

This is such a helpful thread! I'm about to start my pregnancy disability leave next month and was already stressing about payment timing. It's really reassuring to see that "auto payment" status means the money is approved and on its way, even if there are delays. The breakdown of the typical timeline someone provided (certification → processing → auto payment → bank processing → deposit) is super useful. I'm definitely bookmarking this for reference and will make sure to factor in extra time around holidays. Thanks for sharing your experience and updating with the resolution - it makes the whole process feel less scary for those of us going through it for the first time!
