SDI Pregnancy claim pending past 14 days, got benefit summary but no check. When to expect first payment?
Hey everyone, I'm freaking out a bit here. I filed for pregnancy disability and my claim is still pending even though it's been over 2 weeks. I got my benefit summary with the weekly amount, but no check yet. Anyone know when I can expect my first payment? This waiting game is killing me!

Ugh, I feel you. The EDD is so slow with everything. I was in the same boat last year. It took them almost a month to process my claim and get my first check. Hang in there!

•A month?! 😱 I can't wait that long. Bills are piling up. Did you do anything to speed up the process?

•Honestly, I just had to wait it out. I tried calling but could never get through. It sucks, but once it starts, the payments are pretty regular.

•Pro tip: set up direct deposit if you haven't already. It'll save you a few days once they start paying out.

Congrats on the pregnancy! 🎉 But yeah, EDD is notoriously slow. Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can help move things along.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I know it sounds crazy, but I was desperate. It actually worked for me and saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

•How long did you have to wait once they connected you?

•Only about 5 minutes. Way better than the hours I spent trying to get through on my own.

Here's what I know from my experience: 1. The 14-day timeframe is more of a guideline than a rule. EDD is often backlogged. 2. Getting your benefit summary is a good sign. It means your claim has been processed. 3. First payments usually come 1-3 weeks after the benefit summary. 4. Make sure all your docs are in order. Any missing info can cause delays. 5. Keep an eye on your EDD online account for updates. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but it'll come through eventually.

Just went thru this. Make sure u check ur mail carefully. They sent me a form I had to fill out and send back. Almost missed it and it woulda delayed everything!

Anyone else think its crazy that in 2023 we still have to deal with this garbage? Like, why cant they just have a proper online system that actually works? 🤔

Word of advice: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. You never know when you'll need to prove something later.
