SDI January payment missing - submitted certification but no update from EDD. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm freaking out a bit here. I haven't gotten my disability payment for January yet. The last one I got was on December 26th. I've already submitted my continuing eligibility certification on January 11th, but still nothing. Anyone else in the same boat or know what's going on? I'm worried my payment has been stopped for some reason, but I haven't heard anything from EDD. Any advice?

Maria Gonzalez

Ugh, that sucks. EDD can be such a pain sometimes. Have you tried calling them? It might be worth a shot to see if they can give you any info on whats going on with your payment.

Pro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can get through faster that way.

Calling is useless, I swear they have like 2 people working the phones 🤡

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through in about an hour.

$20 tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Beats wasting hours on hold or not getting answers at all.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a glitch in their system and a bunch of payments got delayed. It took about 2 weeks, but it eventually came through. Might be worth checking if there are any known issues right now.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they post messages there about payment issues or if they need additional info from you.

Yeah, I've been checking like crazy. No messages or updates tho 😕

I hate to say it, but you might want to start preparing for the possibility that your benefits have been stopped. It happened to me without warning. Definitely try to get in touch with them ASAP to figure out whats going on.

Oh man, that's what I'm afraid of. Did you ever find out why they stopped yours?

Yeah, turned out they needed some additional medical info. But it took forever to sort out. Start gathering any docs you might need just in case.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep trying to call. Use the trick someone mentioned about calling right when they open. 2. Check your online account daily for updates. 3. If you haven't already, send a message through your online account asking about the status of your January payment. 4. Double-check that your continuing eligibility certification was properly submitted and received. 5. Look through any recent mail carefully - sometimes they send important notices via snail mail. 6. If you have a disability case worker, try contacting them directly. 7. As a last resort, consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but don't give up. 💪

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. It can be helpful if you need to escalate the issue later.

Have you checked if there were any changes to the SDI program for 2023? Sometimes they implement new rules at the start of the year that can affect payments.
