SDI Disqualification Appeal: Advice Needed for Incorrect EDD Decision
Has anyone else been disqualified from SDI for incorrect reasons? I just found out I was disqualified and I'm pretty sure it's a mistake. I'm trying to appeal but it's so frustrating. I've been trying to get through on the phone for days with no luck. This whole system is a mess. Any advice on how to handle this or has anyone successfully appealed before?

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try calling right when they open. I mean like, the second they open. Set an alarm and everything. It's annoying but it worked for me.

•This! I did the same thing and got through after only 3 days of trying. Early bird gets the worm or whatevr 🐦

•It worked for me too, but you have to be on top of it. Sometimes a minute late means you're on hold forever.

I feel ya, buddy. The SDI system is a total nightmare. I went through something similar last year. It took me weeks to get it sorted out, but I finally did. Don't give up!

have you tried going to your local edd office in person? sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with these clowns 🤡

•True. I had more success in person. It's inconvenient, but sometimes worth the effort.

ugh, the SDI office is the WORST. i swear they just randomly disqualify people to see who will fight back. keep pushing and don't let them win!

•They said I didn't provide sufficient medical evidence, but I sent in everything my doctor gave me. It's like they didn't even look at it.

•Ugh, classic EDD move. They probably lost your paperwork. Wouldn't be the first time 🙄

•Maybe talk to your doctor about providing additional detailed notes or letters to strengthen your case.

Anyone else feel like we need to start a support group for people dealing with SDI issues? This stuff is seriously affecting my mental health at this point.

Here's what you need to do to appeal your SDI disqualification: 1. Gather all your medical documentation. Make sure you have everything from your doctor that proves you're eligible. 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining why you believe the disqualification is incorrect. Be specific and reference the eligibility criteria. 3. Submit your appeal in writing within 30 days of receiving the disqualification notice. You can mail it or fax it. 4. Keep copies of EVERYTHING you send. 5. Follow up regularly. Call or write to check on the status of your appeal. 6. If you have a hearing, prepare thoroughly. Bring all your evidence and be ready to explain your case. 7. Consider getting help from a legal aid organization if you're really stuck. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but you have rights. Good luck!

Have you tried faxing your appeal? Sometimes that works better than calling. I know it sounds old school, but it might be worth a shot.

•Totally agree. I had success with faxing too. It's like they respond faster to faxed documents for some reason.

•I tried it last month. It's marginally better, but still a hot mess. At least you can track your appeal status online now.

•Wait, there's an online portal now? Where? Can someone share a link?

•Here's the link to the portal: [EDD Portal Link]. It's not perfect, but the tracking option is a welcome improvement.

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape. Worth a shot!

•Good idea. Involving a representative can sometimes expedite things and get you the assistance you need.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

•I tried Claimyr too, and it worked within an hour. While $20 seems like a lot, it was worth saving my sanity.

To those considering Claimyr, it may seem unusual to pay for a service to get through the system, but it provides an alternative when you're at your wit's end. It's always good to weigh the cost against the time and frustration saved. Ensure you're exploring all options such as visiting local offices, working through online portals, involving representatives, and staying persistent with traditional methods. Balancing both innovative services like Claimyr and these traditional approaches can give you the best shot at resolving your issues.

I went through a similar situation last year and it was absolutely maddening. What helped me was keeping a detailed log of every interaction - dates, times, reference numbers, who I spoke with. When I finally got through to someone, having all that documentation made a huge difference. Also, don't just rely on phone calls. I sent certified mail with my appeal documents so I had proof they received everything. The whole process took about 6 weeks, but I eventually got it overturned. Stay strong and keep all your paperwork organized!
