SDI Debit Card Delay: Still Haven't Received It After Filing Claim
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI debit card. It's been a while since I filed my claim and I still haven't received it. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to follow up with EDD about this? I'm getting worried because I really need access to those funds. Thanks in advance for any help!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through the same thing last year. Have you tried calling EDD directly? It's a pain to get through, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to call but keep getting stuck on hold forever. It's so frustrating 😫

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

Can you give more details about how it works? Like, do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically they have a system that keeps dialing and navigating the phone tree until it detects a live person. Then it calls you to connect. Saved me hours of frustration.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your mailing address on file with EDD. Sometimes cards get sent back if the address is wrong. 2. If it's been more than 10 business days since your claim was approved, call EDD and ask for a status update. 3. Make sure you haven't missed any identity verification requests. They sometimes hold cards if they need more info. 4. If all else fails, you can request a new card, but that'll take extra time. 5. Keep a record of all your calls and communications with EDD. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Quick question - did you opt for direct deposit or the debit card? If you chose direct deposit, you won't get a card at all.

Oh, good point! I'm pretty sure I chose the debit card option, but now you've got me second-guessing myself. I'll double-check that too.

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be slower lately? I wonder if they're short-staffed or something.

I heard they had a big system upgrade recently. Might be causing delays across the board.

Yeah, my friend who works there said they've been swamped with claims lately. Apparently there's been a spike in applications.

Pro tip: If you do end up calling, have all your info ready. Claim number, SSN, address, etc. Makes the process go way faster if you get through.

This might sound crazy, but has anyone tried sending a certified letter to EDD? I did that out of desperation and actually got a response!
