SDI Appeal: What documents do I need to strengthen my case?

Hey everyone, I just filed an appeal for my SDI claim and I'm not sure what documents I need to include. Does anyone have experience with this? What kind of paperwork should I gather to make my case stronger? Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve SDI appeal document requirements, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIOvNybrbTk

I went through this last year. Here's what helped me: ā€¢ Detailed medical records from your doctor ā€¢ Proof of employment and income before disability ā€¢ A well-written appeal letter explaining why you disagree with the decision ā€¢ Supporting statements from your healthcare providers Make sure everything is organized and easy to read. Good luck!

This is great advice! I'd add that you should keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. The EDD can be a black hole sometimes šŸ•³ļø

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Did you write the appeal letter yourself or did you get help?

I wrote it myself, but I had a friend who's good with words look it over. Just be clear and stick to the facts.

ugh, the SDI appeal process is such a headache. I swear they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people šŸ™„

Guys, it's not that bad if you stay organized. Just follow the instructions carefully and you'll be fine.

Has anyone tried calling the SDI office for help? I've been on hold for hours and can't get through.

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, you have to pay to talk to them? That doesn't sound right...

@profile 8 I know it sounds sketchy, but it's just a service that waits on hold for you. You're not paying the SDI, just the company that makes the calls. Saved me hours of frustration.

I've used this too. Totally worth it when you're desperate to talk to someone.

Anyone else feel like they're drowning in paperwork? šŸ“ššŸŒŠ I'm about to start my appeal and I'm already overwhelmed.

Pro tip: If you can, get a letter from your employer confirming your last day of work and that you were in good standing. It helped my case a lot!

That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that. I'll reach out to my boss tomorrow.

Does anyone know how long the appeal process usually takes? I'm running out of savings and getting worried...

It took about 6 weeks for me, but I've heard it can take up to 3 months. Hang in there!

3 MONTHS?! šŸ˜± How are we supposed to survive that long without income?

Check with local food banks and see if your utility companies have assistance programs. Every little bit helps.
