Need help with EDD appeal documentation - what should I gather?

Hey everyone, I'm in the process of appealing my claim and I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this before. What kind of documentation did you need to gather for your appeal? I want to make sure I have everything ready before I submit. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

I went through this last year. Make sure you have ALL your paystubs, any communication from your employer about your termination/layoff, and any medical records if your claim is health-related. Better to have too much than not enough!

Thanks for the advice! Did you need to get anything notarized or was just having copies enough?

Copies were fine for me, but it might depend on your specific situation. I'd call and double-check if you're unsure.

Ugh, the appeal process is such a headache. I've been waiting for months to hear back about mine. Good luck!

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 to actually talk to a human? might be worth it at this point lol

Make sure you keep a detailed log of all your interactions with the unemployment office. Dates, times, who you spoke to, what was said. It'll help if theres any discrepancies later on.

That's a great idea, I'll start doing that right away. Thanks!

I've been through the appeal process twice now (yay me 🙄). Here's what I've learned: 1. Organization is key. Create a folder (physical or digital) for all your documents. 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining your case. Stick to the facts. 3. If you have any witnesses (like former coworkers), get written statements. 4. Keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit. 5. Be prepared for a hearing. They might schedule a phone interview. 6. Don't miss any deadlines. They're super strict about that. 7. If you can, get a free consultation with an employment lawyer. Some offer this service. Hope this helps! The process is a pain, but stay persistent. 💪

anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? 😤

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're hoping we'll just go away if they make it hard enough.

Yep, classic bureaucratic bs. Stay strong and don't let em win!
