EDD Benefits Rejected - Need Advice on Appeal Process

Hey everyone, I just got my benefits rejected and I'm feeling pretty lost. I've got all my documents ready but I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone been through this before? Any advice on how to handle the appeal process or what I should say when I talk to them?

I found a way to solve benefits rejection appeal process, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sMq7seNehc

Ugh, been there done that. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️ Make sure you have EVERYTHING documented. And I mean EVERYTHING. Dates, times, who you talked to, what they said. It's a pain but it'll help your case.

This 💯 Keep a paper trail of everything. It's saved my butt more than once!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam?

Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

How does it work exactly? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically. They have some kind of system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls you.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: pay stubs, termination letter, anything related to your work history. 2. Write a clear, concise appeal letter explaining why you believe the rejection was incorrect. 3. Submit your appeal ASAP - there's usually a deadline. 4. Keep calling and trying to speak with someone. Be persistent! 5. Consider getting legal aid if you can. Some nonprofits offer free help with unemployment cases. 6. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every interaction. Stay strong, OP. The system sucks but don't give up!

Thank you so much for this detailed response! It's really helpful. Do you know how long the appeal process usually takes?

It can vary a lot, unfortunately. I've seen it take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Just keep following up regularly.

have you tried going to your local office in person? sometimes face-to-face works better than phone calls

This happened to me last year. Turns out it was a stupid clerical error on their end. Took 3 months to sort out but I got backpay. Don't lose hope!

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? 🤔

100% THIS. It's all about wearing us down so we stop trying

Yup, classic bureaucratic bs. Make it so complicated and frustrating that people just throw in the towel.
