Late SDI payment from CA EDD - How to speed up disability money?
Has anyone else had their disability money come in late this month? I'm getting worried because my payment hasn't shown up yet and I really need it. Is there a way to make it a priority or speed things up? I'm not sure what to do and bills are piling up. Anyone else in the same boat or know how to get this sorted out?

Pro tip: If you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right when they open in the morning. I've had better luck that way. Also, make sure you have all your info ready when you do get through!

•Thanks for the advice! What time do they open? I'll set an alarm and try first thing.

•They open at 8 AM I think. Good luck! Let us know if you get through.

•This is great advice! It can also help to have a checklist of questions you want to ask, so you don't forget anything important.

This whole system is so broken. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to get the money we need to survive. It's not like we're asking for handouts, this is literally what we've paid into! 😡

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it difficult on purpose.

•Totally agree. We need to organize and demand better treatment. This is unacceptable.

•It's frustrating how often people face issues with these systems. Some advocacy groups are trying to push for reforms, maybe we can support those efforts.

•Email can sometimes be a good way to get a response, especially if the phone lines are jammed.

In addition to the great advice already shared, I want to add some thoughts on Claimyr. Claimyr can indeed be a useful tool for reaching government agencies quickly, especially for those who struggle with long wait times. However, it's important to keep in mind that while it might expedite getting a representative on the line, it doesn't influence the processing speed of your payments. The $20 fee can be a significant expense for those already in financial hardship, so weigh the convenience versus cost carefully. Also, ensure you're using the official site to avoid scams. If you have the time, it might still be worth trying traditional methods first, such as calling during off-peak hours as others have suggested. Alternatively, consider exploring other creative solutions like having a friend or family member assist with calls while you handle other tasks. Balancing these approaches can be your best bet in navigating these challenging situations with late payments.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with late payments: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of when you call, who you talk to, and what they say. 2. Be persistent but polite. The people on the phone aren't responsible for the delays. 3. Check your bank account daily. Sometimes the payment shows up without notification. 4. If you're really in a bind, reach out to local charities or churches. Some offer emergency assistance. 5. Consider setting up direct deposit if you haven't already. It's usually faster than paper checks. 6. If the delay is causing serious hardship (like risk of eviction), make sure to tell them. They might be able to expedite in emergencies. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. We're all in this together. 💪

Same here! My payment is usually like clockwork but this month its MIA. I'm getting worried too. Has anyone heard if there's a system-wide delay or something?

•I saw something on Twitter about their system being down for maintenance last week. Maybe that's causing delays? 🤔

•Ugh, that would explain it. Thanks for the info! Hopefully they get it sorted out soon.

•I wonder if this happens often or if they're taking steps to improve their system. It's so stressful when payments are late.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's insane. Is it legit?

•Sounds sketchy af. Has anyone else tried this?

•I know it sounds crazy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it imho.

•Claimyr has received mixed reviews. While some users like profile 5 have found it helpful, others find the cost too steep for what should be a public service.

Guys, I heard a rumor that they're changing the payment schedule next month. Anyone know if that's true? Might explain some of the delays we're seeing.

•I haven't heard anything official, but it could be worth calling and asking them directly about any upcoming changes.

•That would be a big change. I hope they communicate it clearly if it's true.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are messages or updates there that might explain the delay. Also, double-check that all your info is up to date!

Ugh, I feel you. My disability payment was late last month and it was a nightmare. Have you tried calling the disability office? Sometimes they can give you more info or push it through faster if you explain your situation.

•I've been trying to call all day but keep getting stuck on hold forever. Its so frustrating! 😤 How long did you have to wait on the phone?

•Honestly, I was on hold for like 3 hours before I got through. It's ridiculous. But once I finally talked to someone, they were able to help. Hang in there!

•That's a long wait time, but sometimes you can get lucky if you call during off-peak hours. Maybe try around lunchtime or just before they close?

I'm dealing with the same issue right now - my payment is over a week late and I'm starting to panic about rent. From what I've been reading online, it seems like there might be some kind of system backlog this month. I've been trying the phone route but like everyone else, I'm getting stuck in hold hell. One thing that helped me feel a bit better was checking the EDD website's "news" section - they sometimes post notices about delays there. Also, if you have direct deposit set up, double check that your bank info hasn't changed or expired. I know it's scary when the money doesn't come when expected, especially when you're depending on it. Hopefully we all get our payments sorted out soon! 🤞

•Thanks for mentioning the EDD website news section - I hadn't thought to check there! Just looked and there is a notice about processing delays due to system maintenance. At least now we know it's not just us. Really hoping they get this sorted out quickly because like you said, rent waits for no one! 😰
