How to find out when EDD benefits end? Need help ASAP!

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out when my unemployment benefits are going to stop. Does anyone know how to find out the end date of my current benefit year? I'm getting worried about when the payments might stop coming in.

The end date of your benefit year should be on your initial award letter. It's usually one year from when you first filed your claim. Check your paperwork or log into your online account to find it.

Thanks for the tip! I'll dig through my files and see if I can find that letter. Fingers crossed 🤞

Just a heads up, sometimes the online account info can be outdated. I'd recommend calling to double-check if you can't find the letter.

Ugh, calling them is such a pain tho. I've been on hold for hours before 😫

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call...

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

How long did you have to wait before they connected you?

It took about 45 minutes, but I just went about my day until my phone rang. Way better than being stuck listening to hold music!

Here's what you need to know about unemployment benefit periods: • Your benefit year typically lasts 52 weeks from the date you filed your claim • You can receive benefits for up to 26 weeks (in most states) within that year • If you're still unemployed after your benefit year ends, you may need to file a new claim • Extensions may be available during high unemployment periods • Your weekly benefit amount and total available benefits are calculated at the start of your claim To find your specific end date: 1. Check your initial claim approval letter 2. Log into your state's unemployment portal 3. Call the unemployment office (be prepared for long wait times) Remember, even if your benefit year hasn't ended, you might exhaust your benefits before then if you've claimed the maximum weeks available. Always report any income you earn while receiving benefits to avoid overpayments.

Wow, thanks for the detailed breakdown! This is super helpful 💯

Quick question - do partial weeks count towards the 26-week total?

Good question! Partial weeks do count, but they don't necessarily use up a full week of benefits. It depends on how much you earned that week compared to your weekly benefit amount.

am i the only 1 who thinks its ridiculous we gotta jump thru all these hoops just to get basic info about our benefits? the system is broken af 🤡

Preach! 🙌 I've been saying this for years. We need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system.

ikr? its like they WANT us to give up and stop claiming 🙄

Has anyone had luck with the chat feature on the unemployment website? I've heard it's faster than calling.

I tried it last week. Waited 2 hours only to get disconnected. Back to square one 😑

Chat worked for me! But I logged on right when they opened at 8am. Might be worth a shot if you're an early bird.

Pro tip: Set a reminder for yourself a few weeks before your benefit year is set to end. That way you can start preparing to either find work or file a new claim if needed. Don't wait until the last minute!

That's actually really smart advice! I wish someone had told me this earlier. I'm definitely setting a calendar reminder now so I don't get caught off guard.

Anyone else notice that the rules seem to change every other week? I swear I need a law degree just to understand whats going on with my claim sometimes lol

For real tho. I've given up trying to understand and just hope for the best at this point 🤷‍♂️

It's because of all the emergency extensions and federal programs that kept changing. Things should be more stable now that we're back to regular state benefits.
