How to find out how much I paid into SDI for 2024?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out how much I paid into disability in 2024. Does anyone know how to find this information? I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to get a straight answer. Any help would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve finding 2024 disability payment amount, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DySMxIzuDnQ

I had the same issue last year! It's so frustrating trying to get this info. Have you tried logging into your EDD account online? Sometimes they have a breakdown of your contributions there.

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried logging in but couldn't find anything specific about 2024 contributions. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place? 🤔

The EDD website is a maze 😫 I swear they make it confusing on purpose!

Ugh, I know right? It's like they don't want us to find anything. Maybe try calling them directly? Good luck getting through tho lol

If you're employed, check your W-2 form. Box 18 should show your State Disability Insurance (SDI) withholdings for the year. If you're self-employed and pay into SDI voluntarily, you'll need to check your tax records or contact EDD directly.

Oh, that's really helpful! I'll definitely check my W-2. Thanks for the tip!

Just to add to this - the SDI rate for 2024 is 1.1% of your wages, up to a maximum of $153,164. So you can't have paid more than $1,684.80 for the year.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

This is genius! 🙌 Wish I knew about this earlier. Spent like 3 hours on hold last week 😭

Pro tip: If you have an online account with EDD, you can sometimes find this info under 'Claim History' or 'Payment Activity'. It might not be labeled as 'disability payments' specifically, but you can usually figure it out from there.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we even have to ask this question? The government should make this information easily accessible to us. We're the ones paying into it after all! 😤

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2024 for crying out loud, why is everything still so complicated?

Totally agree. It's like they're stuck in the stone age or something. Get with the times, EDD!

Have you tried contacting your employer's HR department? They should have records of all your payroll deductions, including disability insurance contributions.

That's a great idea! I'll reach out to HR tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!

Guys, I just went through this whole process last month. Here's what I learned: 1. Your W-2 is the easiest way to find this info (Box 18 as someone mentioned). 2. If you can't find your W-2, check your last paystub of the year. It should have year-to-date totals. 3. If neither of those work, you CAN get this info from EDD, but it's a pain: - Log into your EDD account - Go to 'Claim History' - Look for 'Total Benefits Paid' - this isn't exactly what you paid in, but it's related 4. As a last resort, call EDD directly. Use the trick someone mentioned above to avoid long hold times. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed breakdown! This is incredibly helpful. I'll go through these steps one by one. You're a lifesaver! 🙏

Has anyone tried using the EDD mobile app? I heard they updated it recently, might be worth checking out.

I tried it last week. It's slightly better than the website, but still pretty confusing. Couldn't find specific contribution amounts tho.

Wait, there's an app? 😮 How did I not know about this?

Another option is to check with your payroll provider if your employer uses one (like ADP, Paychex, etc.). They usually have online portals where you can access all your pay stubs and tax documents. I was able to find my SDI contributions there when I couldn't locate my W-2. Most payroll systems will show you a year-to-date breakdown of all deductions including state disability insurance. Worth a shot if the other methods don't work out!

That's a really smart suggestion! I completely forgot about payroll portals. My company uses ADP and I never thought to check there. Thanks for the tip - definitely going to try this route! 💡

Just wanted to add that if you're having trouble finding your W-2, you can also request a wage and tax statement transcript directly from the IRS! You can do this online at irs.gov or by calling them. It's free and will show all the same info as your W-2, including that Box 18 SDI amount everyone's talking about. Takes about 5-10 business days to get it by mail, or you can view it instantly online if you can verify your identity. This saved me when I couldn't find my physical W-2 last year! 📋

This is such a great tip! I had no idea you could get W-2 info directly from the IRS like that. The online option sounds super convenient too - way better than waiting around for mail. Thanks for sharing this! 🙌
