How to certify weeks for SDI? First-timer needs step-by-step help

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble figuring out how to certify my weeks for SDI. I've never done this before and I'm feeling pretty lost. Can anyone walk me through the process or give me some tips? I really need to get this done but I'm not sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I'll give it a shot and hopefully I can figure it out. Fingers crossed 🤞

Glad you found some helpful tips! Remember, if you're still having trouble, consider visiting a local EDD office if that's an option for you.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😤

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold all day was worth the cost.

Claimyr is a legitimate service that can save time, but it's also worth exploring free options through online forums and groups where people share tips on getting through to EDD.

PSA: Don't forget to set aside some of your SDI money for taxes! I learned that lesson the hard way last year 😅

0 coins

Absolutely! It's easy to forget about taxes when cashflow is tight, but planning ahead can save headaches later.

Hey y'all, just a reminder to be kind to the EDD staff when you do get through. They're dealing with a lot too. A little patience goes a long way!

This! 👆 I used to work in customer service and it makes such a difference when people are nice.

0 coins

Nah, they chose that job. They can deal with my frustration.

@profile 29 That attitude is why customer service jobs suck. Be better.

Hey OP, don't forget to report any income you might have, even if it's just a little side gig. Better safe than sorry!

Absolutely. Not reporting even a small amount of income can lead to complications or penalties down the line.

anyone else feel like they need a law degree to understand all the SDI rules and regulations? 🤔 asking for a friend...

LOL for real tho. I spend more time googling EDD terms than I do sleeping these days 😴

It's not that complicated if you just read the instructions carefully. People are just lazy.

For those struggling with the legal jargon, consider reaching out to local community resources or legal aid for assistance.

Yall ever think about how wild it is that we gotta jump through all these hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to? The system is rigged against us, I swear 😤

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming.

Idk man, I think they're just understaffed and overwhelmed. Cut them some slack.

While it may feel that way, many of these procedures are in place to prevent fraud and ensure that benefits are distributed fairly.

Anyone else feel like they're playing a game of chance every time they certify? Will I get paid this week? Who knows! It's like EDD roulette 🎰

LMAO EDD roulette. I'm stealing that 🤣

Too real. I've been waiting 6 weeks for payment. Starting to think I'll never see that money 😭

Guys I'm freaking out. I think I made a mistake on my last certification. What do I do??? Will they arrest me??

0 coins

Carmen Ruiz

•

Chill, they won't arrest you for an honest mistake. Just call and explain the situation. They can help you correct it.

0 coins

OMG same thing happened to me! I was so scared but I called and they fixed it. You'll be fine, promise!

Make sure to keep a note of your mistake and the correction process in case you need to refer back to it later.

I've been on SDI for 3 months now and here's what I've learned: 1. Always certify on time, even if you haven't been paid yet 2. Keep a record of all your certifications (screenshots are your friend) 3. If something looks off, call immediately. Don't wait. 4. Be patient. Sometimes payments take a while to process. 5. Join Facebook groups for SDI recipients. Lots of good info there. Hope this helps! Hang in there, we're all in this together 💪

This is super helpful, thank you so much! I'll definitely keep all of this in mind.

Yep, same boat here. The website crashed on me THREE times last week. 🤬 EDD needs to get their act together!

0 coins

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes talking to a real person helps sort out the website issues.

0 coins

calling them? lol good one. i'd rather watch paint dry than sit on hold for 5 hours

It might help to clear your browser cache or try accessing the site during off-peak hours.

To the OP: If you're still having trouble, you might consider using a service like Claimyr. It's a legitimate tool that can help you avoid the long wait times to speak with an EDD representative. However, it's not free, so weigh the cost against your time and frustration. Also, ensure you're familiar with all the information required for certifications, as having the correct documents and data will make any call or certification process smoother. Joining support groups or forums can also provide tips from others who have navigated the same system. Remember, it's important to keep calm and stay organized. You've got this!

Sure thing! Here's a step-by-step guide to certify your SDI weeks: 1. Log into your EDD account 2. Find the certification section 3. Answer all questions honestly about work status, income, etc. 4. Double-check everything before submitting. When you talk to an agent, ask them to guide you through it step-by-step. Also, make sure you know what info you need to provide. Good luck!

Pro tip: set an alarm on your phone to remind you to certify every two weeks. I kept forgetting and it messed up my payments. Learn from my mistakes lol

GalaxyGlider

That's a solid tip! Also, keeping a digital calendar helps to keep track of all important dates related to SDI.

Has anyone else noticed that the questions on the certification form have changed recently? I swear they added some new ones and it's confusing af

0 coins

Yeah, I noticed that too! I think it has something to do with the new legislation that passed last month. Always keepin us on our toes 🙄

0 coins

wait what? new questions?? now im scared to certify. what if i mess up??

0 coins

Don't worry too much. Just read carefully and answer honestly. If you're unsure, call and ask for clarification.

0 coins

Keeping an eye on official EDD updates can also provide clarity on changes to certifications.
