Got EDD Notice of Computation for Paid Parental Leave - What's Next?
Hey everyone, I just got a notice of computation for my paid parental leave claim. Has anyone else received this? What does it mean exactly? Is this showing the benefit amount I'll get or is there more to it? I'm a bit confused about what to expect next.

The notice of computation is usually a good sign! It typically shows your weekly benefit amount based on your past earnings. Have you checked if the amount seems right to you?

β’Thanks for the info! I'm not sure if the amount is correct tbh. How do I know if it's right? Is there a way to calculate it myself?

β’You can actually calculate it yourself! Check out the EDD website, they have a calculator tool. Just input your highest quarter earnings from the past 18 months and it'll give you an estimate. Hope that helps!

Congrats on the new addition to your family! πΆ The notice of computation is just the first step. You'll probably get a few more notices before you start receiving benefits. Keep an eye on your mail!

Hey guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

β’Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

β’I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it's legit. Used it twice now and got through both times. Saved me hours of frustration!

β’$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Cant believe we have to pay extra just to talk to someone about our benefits π€¦ββοΈ

β’I get it, but for me, the time saved was worth it. Spent way more than $20 worth of my time trying to get through before.

Here's a detailed breakdown of what the Notice of Computation means and what to expect next: β’ The Notice of Computation shows your potential weekly benefit amount. β’ It's calculated based on your highest quarter earnings in the base period (usually the 5 to 17 months before your claim start date). β’ This is NOT a guarantee of benefits, just a calculation of what you could receive if approved. β’ Next steps: 1. EDD will review your claim and employment info 2. You may receive a request for additional info 3. If approved, you'll get a Notice of Eligibility 4. Then you'll start receiving benefit payments Keep all documents you receive and respond promptly to any EDD requests. If anything looks off, appeal ASAP - you usually have 30 days. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

β’Glad it helped! I don't work for EDD, just been through the process a couple times and done a lot of research. The system can be confusing, so I try to help others when I can.

Pro tip: start gathering all your pay stubs and employment info now. EDD might ask for it later and having it ready will speed things up!

β’Yeah, you can check on the EDD website. Log into your account and go to the claim status section. It's not always super up to date tho
