EDD stopped my disability benefits because I didn't get the form. How do I get them to resume and backpay me?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my disability benefits. The form didn't show up in my inbox and now my benefits have stopped. I finally got the form and filled it out, but I need help getting my benefits to start up again. Anyone been through this before? Any advice on how to get them to resume my benefits and pay me for the time I missed?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Write an email to EDD explaining the situation 2. Include your claim number and daily benefit amount 3. Ask them to resume your benefits AND backpay you for the missed time 4. Send it through their official contact method Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else.

Good luck OP! The system is so broken, its ridiculous we have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're owed. 🙄

No problem! Yeah, it can be frustrating. Just make sure to follow up if you don't hear back within a week or so. Sometimes things fall through the cracks.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's kinda steep. Is it really worth it?

I know it sounds crazy, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. And yeah, $20 isn't cheap, but considering how much I was missing in benefits, it was totally worth it for me.

I tried it too! Got through in like 30 minutes. Definitely beats calling for days on end.

have you tried faxing them? sometimes that works better than email or phone calls lol

This happened to me last year. It took FOREVER to get it sorted out. Make sure you keep copies of everything you send them. And if you can, try to get someone on the phone. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! How long did it take for you to get it resolved?

It took about 3 weeks from when I first contacted them. But I was calling every other day to check on the status. Stay on top of it!

Hey, just a heads up - make sure you're checking your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails from EDD end up there. Learned that the hard way 😅
