EDD benefit payments suddenly stopped - no explanation on account. What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. My benefit payments have suddenly stopped and I have no idea why. I've checked my online account but there's nothing there explaining what's going on. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Oliver Becker

Ugh, I feel you. This happened to me last month. Have you tried calling the EDD? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call all morning but can't get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

Check your mail! Sometimes they send important notices through snail mail instead of updating the online portal. I missed a deadline because of this 🤦‍♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

Totally get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? 😬 That's steep when you're already struggling with benefits

I hear ya, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your certification dates. Make sure you haven't missed any. 2. Look for any pending identity verification requests. They sometimes freeze payments for this. 3. Check if your benefit year has ended. You might need to file a new claim. 4. Review your last few payments. Any overpayments could cause a stop. 5. Check your email spam folder for any missed communications. 6. If all else fails, keep calling. Use the trick of pressing 1 for Spanish then 0 for English - sometimes gets you through faster. Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess but you'll figure it out!

Preach! 🙌 We need to organize and demand better service from EDD.

Y'all should contact your local representatives. Sometimes they can help push things along.

Anyone else notice that this always seems to happen right when rent is due? 🤔 Coincidence? I think not!

Hey OP, what was the last thing you did before the payments stopped? Did you report any earnings or change any info on your account?

Amina Bah

Now that you mention it, I did report some part-time earnings last month. Could that have triggered something?

Bingo! That might be it. They sometimes pause payments to recalculate your benefit amount. Keep trying to reach them for clarification.
