EDD SDI claim stuck for a month, no response - need advice on breaking through

I'm at my wits end with this disability claim. I sent in all my paperwork over a month ago and haven't heard a peep from EDD. I've got kids to feed and bills piling up. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get some answers? I'm starting to feel like I'm shouting into the void here.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update stuff there without sending notifications.

Yeah, I check it obsessively. Still says "pending" 😞

Ugh, the dreaded "pending" status. It's like watching paint dry, but less exciting.

Try logging in at odd hours. Sometimes system maintenance updates things silently overnight.

Hang in there, OP. The system is broken, but don't give up. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help push things along.

Javier Morales

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Freya Nielsen

Just google "[your city] assembly member". They usually have a website with contact info. Send them an email explaining your situation. They might be able to light a fire under EDD for you.

And don't forget to follow up if you don't hear back! Persistence is key in these situations.

Hey OP, have you considered reaching out to local news stations? Sometimes a little media attention can light a fire under these agencies.

Javier Morales

Thats an intresting idea. Wouldn't even know where to start tho

Most local news stations have a "tip line" or contact form on their website. Just explain your situation and how many others are struggling too. They might bite!

It can be a powerful move. Sometimes public accountability gets things moving.

Have you tried calling them? I know it's a pain, but sometimes you gotta be the squeaky wheel to get the grease.

Javier Morales

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. Either busy signals or hours on hold only to get disconnected. It's driving me nuts!

Calling EDD is like trying to win the lottery while being struck by lightning. Good luck with that 😂

Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and be ready to hit redial a million times. It sucks, but it worked for me eventually.

Also, consider using different lines or phone numbers if you have them. Sometimes different lines have different hold times.

I'm telling you, it's all a conspiracy to make us give up and go back to work. Stay strong, comrades! ✊

Take off the tinfoil hat, bro. It's just good old-fashioned bureaucratic incompetence.

That's what they want you to think! Wake up, sheeple! 👀

Even if it's not a conspiracy, the struggle is legit. Keep pushing for what's rightfully yours.

Guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. How does it work exactly?

$20 just to make a phone call? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken we have to pay just to talk to someone 🤦‍♂️

@profile 10 It's pretty simple. You put in your info, pay, and they start calling. When they get an agent, your phone rings. Saved me hours of frustration. @profile 11 I get it, it sucks to pay. But for me, it was worth it to finally get answers. Time is money, ya know?

Does it actually work tho? Ive been burned by "quick fixes" before 🤔

I used Claimyr too and it worked for me. I wish it was free, but sometimes our time is worth more than the cost.

Claimyr has been a lifesaver for many dealing with EDD struggles. It's a paid service, which can be a downside for those on a tight budget, but many find it worth the cost due to the time saved and the frustration avoided. However, it's not a guaranteed fix for everyone, as experiences can vary. Some users have reported seamless connections to agents, while others have encountered issues possibly due to high demand or technical glitches. It's also important to continue traditional methods of follow-up and documentation with EDD, even when using Claimyr. Remember, the ultimate goal is to reach a resolution with EDD, and Claimyr is just one tool in a broader strategy. If you're considering Claimyr, weigh its cost against your current situation and needs. Be aware of all available options including contacting representatives, documenting every interaction with EDD, and considering legal advice if necessary. Staying informed and advocating for yourself remains crucial throughout this challenging process.

Welcome to the club, buddy. EDD's been ghosting me for 6 weeks now. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our benefits 🙄

I feel you, man. I was in the same boat last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 3. Have all your paperwork ready when you do get through. 4. Be polite but firm with the agents. They're overworked too. 5. If all else fails, consider contacting a disability attorney. Hang in there. It's a frustrating process, but you'll get through it.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I'll definitely start keeping better records. Did you end up needing an attorney?

Nah, I got lucky and finally got through to a helpful agent. But I was close to calling one. It's good to know your options.

It's always good to have all your correspondence documented. An attorney can help make sense of the chaos if it comes to that.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just learn to code and stop relying on the government 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, because learning to code is totally gonna fix a broken leg or chronic illness. SMH.

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I know it sounds like we're back in the 90s, but I heard it can sometimes get faster results.

Faxing? Seriously? Do people even have fax machines anymore?

There are online fax services you can use. It's worth a shot if nothing else is working.

I tried it once, it was a bit of a hassle setting it up digitally, but it did seem to speed things up.
