EDD SDI Claim Delay: No Response After 1 Month, Worried About Lost Form
Has anyone else been waiting forever to hear back about their disability claim? I sent in my "Physician/Practitioner Supplementary Certificate" form over a month ago and still haven't gotten any money. I'm worried it got lost in the mail or something. How long does this usually take? I'm getting really frustrated with the whole process.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD disability claims: 1. Documentation is key. Make sure EVERYTHING is filled out correctly and completely. 2. Follow up regularly. Call, email, check your online account. 3. Be patient but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but don't let your claim fall through the cracks. 4. Keep copies of everything you send them. 5. If possible, fax your documents instead of mailing them. It's faster and you get a confirmation. 6. If you're really stuck, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things along. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself!

•Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try faxing next time. Any idea how long it typically takes to process a claim?

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be proactive and chase them down.

•Yeah, I've been trying to call for days. Can't get through to anyone. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach them.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59 AM. It's still a pain, but your chances are better.

Friendly reminder to everyone: take care of your mental health while dealing with this stress. It's easy to get overwhelmed, but remember to breathe and take breaks when you need to. We're all in this together! ❤️

Have you heard of Claimyr? It's a service that helps people contact the EDD by staying on hold for you until they reach an agent. It costs $20 per use, which can seem steep, but it has helped many people navigate the frustrating system. However, it's important to weigh this cost against your budget and consider whether it's a sustainable expense, especially if you are on a tight budget. Also, while Claimyr offers a potential shortcut, the core issue remains a systemic one, with governmental departments needing better resources to handle claims efficiently. Regardless, it might be worth trying if you're desperate to get through.

•I might give Claimyr a try if I can't reach anyone soon. Thanks for the suggestion!

•Just be cautious about the $20 cost each time. It can add up quickly if there's no resolution.

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. Been waiting for 2 months now. It's ridiculous how understaffed and inefficient they are. Don't they realize people need this money to survive??

LPT: While you're waiting, document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. It might come in handy if you need to appeal or escalate your claim later.

Hey OP, have you considered reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? They sometimes have staff dedicated to helping constituents with EDD issues.

•I didn't know that was an option! I'll look into it, thanks for the tip!

Not to be that guy, but have you double-checked that you sent it to the right address? I made that mistake once and it set me back weeks. 🤦♂️

•Oh man, now you've got me paranoid. I'm pretty sure I did, but I'll definitely double-check. Thanks for the heads up!

I heard they're super backed up because of all the fraud cases they're dealing with. Not sure if its true, but might explain the delay.

Anyone else notice that their processing times seem to get longer every year? I swear it used to be faster back in the day.

PSA: If you're really desperate, you can request an expedited claim due to financial hardship. You need to provide proof, but it might speed things up.

•I had no idea this was an option! Do you know what kind of proof they need?

•Usually stuff like eviction notices, utility shut-off warnings, or bank statements showing you're overdrawn. Basically anything that shows you're in dire straits.

unpopular opinion: maybe if we all stopped expecting instant gratification and learned some patience, this wouldn't be such a big deal 🤷♀️

Guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my claim 6 weeks ago and radio silence since then. It's so frustrating because you're dealing with a disability AND financial stress at the same time. I've been reading through all these comments and it sounds like persistence is key. Maybe we should start a support group for people stuck in EDD limbo 😅 Seriously though, thanks for posting this - it helps to know we're not alone in this mess.
