EDD Nightmare: Called about reduced hours, given wrong form, call disconnected. What now?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I got a call on Sunday about reduced hours at work, and now I need to file for assistance. The problem is, when I tried to call and get help, they didn't give me the right form. The call got disconnected before we could sort it out. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what to do next?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. The system is so broken, it's ridiculous. Have you tried calling back? Sometimes you get lucky and find a helpful agent.

•I tried calling back but the wait times are insane. I was on hold for over 2 hours before I gave up. 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

•Or try calling 5 minutes before they close. Sometimes theres less of a wait then

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free 🤔

•I get it, but for me, it was worth it to avoid the headache. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Go to the official website and look for the 'Reduced Hours' form. It should be under the 'Forms' or 'Applications' section. 2. If you can't find it, try searching for 'partial unemployment' or 'work share program' forms. 3. Fill out the form as best you can. If you're unsure about anything, leave it blank. 4. Submit the form online if possible. If not, print it and mail it in. 5. Keep calling until you get through. Use the tips others have mentioned about timing your calls. 6. Document everything! Keep a record of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what was said. 7. If all else fails, reach out to your local representative's office. They can sometimes help cut through the red tape. Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess, but persistence pays off!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: check if your state has an online chat option. Sometimes it's faster than calling.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Reduced hours are the worst because you're not fully unemployed but you're still struggling. Solidarity, friend. 💪

PSA: If anyone else is dealing with this, there's a webinar next week about navigating reduced hours and unemployment benefits. Might be helpful!
