EDD Identity Verification: W2 and Driver's License Required - Tips?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to verify my identity for unemployment benefits. They're asking for my W2 and driver's license. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips or things I should watch out for?

Yeah, I just went through this last month. Make sure your W2 is the most recent one and that your driver's license isn't expired. They're pretty strict about that stuff.

This ⬆️ 💯 I made the mistake of sending an old W2 and it delayed everything by weeks 🤦♂️

@profile 3 Yeah, a state ID should work too. Anything government-issued with your photo on it.

Ugh, I hate this process. It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible to get the benefits we deserve. 🙄

It's not that bad guys. Just follow the instructions and be patient. The system is overloaded rn

Pro tip: Take clear, well-lit photos of your documents. Make sure all corners are visible and the text is readable. I had to resubmit because my first pics were too blurry.

Has anyone else been waiting forever to hear back after submitting their docs? It's been 3 weeks for me and still nothing 😫

3 weeks? That's nothing. I've been waiting for 2 months! 🤡

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

@profile 12 Totally legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

20 bucks to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😤

@profile 13 I get it, but think about how much time you waste trying to call. Time is money, ya know?

Here's a comprehensive guide for verifying your identity for unemployment benefits: • Gather all required documents: recent W2, valid driver's license or state ID, and possibly a utility bill for address verification. • Ensure all documents are current and not expired. • Take clear, high-resolution photos or scans of your documents. All text should be legible and all corners visible. • Double-check that the name and address on all documents match exactly. • Submit through the official unemployment portal - avoid sending sensitive info via email. • Keep copies of everything you submit and note the date and time of submission. • Follow up if you don't hear back within 2 weeks. • If you need to speak with someone, be prepared for long wait times or consider using a paid service to get through. Remember, patience is key. The system is overwhelmed, but persistence usually pays off. Good luck!
