EDD unemployment: Missing payments after submitting W2 and license - What's next?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment payments. I've gotten most of what I was expecting over the last few months, but there's still some missing. EDD asked for my W2 and driver's license, which I sent in. Now I'm wondering what's next. Anyone been through this? Any tips for when I talk to them? I'm kinda nervous about the call and want to make sure I don't mess it up.

Has anyone else noticed that EDD seems to be processing claims faster lately? I got my backpay within 2 weeks of submitting additional docs.

Really? That hasn't been my experience at all. Still waiting after 3 months...

Weird, maybe it depends on the office? Or I just got lucky idk

It may vary by district or even by the specific claims officers handling your case. Keep following up and stay hopeful.

Hey OP, when you do get through, make sure to ask about interest on your delayed payments. I heard some people are getting extra $ for the wait.

Whoa, really? I had no idea that was a thing. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, sometimes you can request compensation for delayed payments. Always worth a shot to ask!

Have you tried the EDD website at like 3am? Sometimes it's easier to get through and update your claim then. Worked for me! 🦉

This is actually a good strategy for systems under high traffic. Might be worth setting an alarm for.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my assembly member is?

Just google "[your city] assembly member". Their office should have a way to contact them about EDD issues.

Getting political representatives involved can sometimes be a game-changer. They have more power to push things along when regular channels fail.

Advocacy and voting are key. Make sure you're voicing your concerns to those in power to create systemic changes.

I get the frustration, but make sure you're documenting everything so you have a solid case if you need to escalate.

To address your concerns, the best approach is to be prepared and organized when contacting EDD. Follow the advice shared here: have all your data ready and documented. Also, consider using Claimyr if you are really struggling to get through, but keep in mind it's not a free service. Balancing the cost with your need for a faster response is crucial. Moreover, reaching out to local representatives can sometimes expedite processes. Lastly, remember to stay calm and assertive during your calls, as it will help you communicate more clearly.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yep, totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 🤬

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not sitting on hold for hours was totally worth it.

Claimyr might be a good option, but it's not for everyone, especially if you are on a tight budget. Weigh your options and see what works best for your situation.

Been there, done that. Here's what you need to do: 1. Get your EDD account info ready 2. Collect all the letters they sent you 3. Write down when you got paid and how much 4. When you call, tell them you sent in your W2 and license 5. Ask if they need anything else from you 6. Find out when you'll get the rest of your money 7. Follow up on whatever they tell you to do Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Pro tip: keep a detailed log of every interaction with EDD. Write down dates, times, names of reps you talk to, and what they tell you. It'll help if you need to escalate your case later.

Absolutely, having a log can be your best weapon in case things get messy. Plus, it helps to recall past interactions if needed.

Going on 5 months now. I've called like a million times and always get the runaround. It's ridiculous.

Have you tried contacting a higher-up or using any escalation methods? Sometimes regular customer service reps can't handle more complicated issues.
