EDD not receiving W-2s for disability claim filed in May - advice needed
Has anyone else had trouble with EDD not receiving their documents? I sent in my W-2s from last year like they asked, but I'm worried they might not have gotten them. I filed for disability back in May and still haven't heard anything. It's so frustrating! I'm thinking about calling to follow up, but I know how hard it is to get through. Any advice on what to say or how to handle this?

Pro tip: If you do get through, ask for an email address to send your documents to directly. Sometimes that's faster than snail mail.

Yes! Email is much quicker. Just make sure you get a confirmation that they received it.

Reminder to everyone: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every fax. It'll save your butt if there's ever a dispute.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help push things along with EDD.

I heard they're super backed up because of all the fraud cases they're dealing with. Doesn't make it any less frustrating tho

Anyone else think its weird that in 2023 we're still relying on faxes and snail mail for this stuff? Like, hello, we have the internet??

I know, right? Hopefully they modernize soon. The current process seems outdated.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken π€¦ββοΈ

March? That's nothing. I filed in January and I'm still waiting. This is ridiculous.

For those skeptical about Claimyr, it might be helpful to note that while it's a paid service, many users have found it genuinely helpful in breaking through the EDD's long queues. However, it's worth weighing the cost against the potential time saved, and exploring other options like contacting a local assembly member or using certified mail and email to ensure your documents are received. Always check reviews and consider the urgency of your situation before deciding if it's worth the investment for you.

Pro tip: Always send important documents via certified mail. That way you have proof they received it. Learned that the hard way π

Gianna Scott
Yes! Certified mail is a lifesaver. It saved me once when they claimed they hadn't received my paperwork. Always good to have proof.

And if you're sending multiple pages, make sure everything is clear and legible. Once they claimed they couldn't read part of a form I sent.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: W-2s, claim number, dates you filed, etc. 2. Call EDD first thing in the morning, right when they open. That's your best shot. 3. Be polite but firm. Tell them you're following up on submitted documents and need confirmation. 4. Ask if there's anything else they need for your disability claim. 5. Get the name of who you talk to and a reference number for the call. 6. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 7. Keep a log of all your calls and what was said. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! Good luck!
