CalWORKs diaper allowance payment schedule - when do they hit accounts?
I've been receiving the diaper allowance for my 2-year-old for about 6 months now, but I can never remember when it's supposed to deposit. Last month it came around the 15th but this month nothing yet and it's already the 19th. Does anyone know if there's a set schedule for when the CalWORKs diaper allowance hits your account? Or does it vary by county? I'm in LA County if that matters. Really counting on it for this month's diaper supply 😥

The CalWORKs diaper allowance payments should be deposited on the same day as your regular Cash Aid payment each month. If you get your regular benefits on the 1st, the diaper money should come then too. Are you getting your regular CalWORKs benefits on time? If your regular payment came but the diaper allowance didn't, you should definitely call your worker.

•That's the weird thing, my regular Cash Aid came on the 1st like always but no diaper money. Last month both came together on the 1st but before that the diaper money was separate. So confusing!!

mine always comes with my reglar cash aid. i get everyting on the 3rd. maybe call ur worker to ask? my friend said sometimes they forget to put it on ur card if u just started getting it

The diaper supplement of $30 per child under age 3 should definitely be deposited at the same time as your regular CalWORKs benefit each month. Since you mentioned LA County, they're having some system issues right now that might be causing delays. Two important things to check: 1. Make sure your child's age is correctly listed in your case file 2. Verify that you indicated on your last SAR7 that you still have a child under 3 If you didn't submit documentation when requested or if something was marked incorrectly on your semi-annual report, the diaper allowance might have been discontinued. You'll need to speak with a worker to get it reinstated.

I was having the EXACT same problem trying to reach LA DPSS about my missing diaper money last month! Spent THREE DAYS calling that stupid number. Finally I found out about this service called Claimyr that got me through to a real person in about 10 minutes. It was the only way I could actually talk to someone! The worker fixed it right away once I actually got to talk to a human.

•It worked for me! Was way better than wasting hours calling and getting disconnected. They basically wait on hold for you then call you when they get a person. My worker told me they've been extra busy with the new fiscal year starting and system updates.

The diaper allowance is SO inconsistent!!! Sometimes mine comes with my regular CalWORKs deposit and sometimes it's random days later. One time it didn't come at all and when I finally got through to my worker they said there was a "system flag" whatever that means. They had to manually override something and I got it like 3 weeks late. The whole system is a mess - they expect us to follow every little rule perfectly but then they can't even get our benefits right 🙄

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone! There was a glitch in their system that affected a bunch of people who get the diaper allowance. The worker said they're fixing it and I should see the payment in 3-5 business days. She also said they're supposed to come with the regular Cash Aid payment on the 1st, but sometimes it processes separately. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Glad you got an answer! Just as an FYI for the future, if your diaper allowance is ever delayed by more than 15 days, you can request a supplemental payment due to administrative error. They should issue it within 3 business days since it's considered an immediate need for a child.

•@Giovanni Moretti is absolutely right! You should definitely be getting that $30/month. I had the same thing happen - was on CalWORKs for months before I found out about the diaper allowance. When I called my worker, turns out they had my daughter s'age wrong in the system. Once they fixed it, I got all the back payments I was owed. Don t'let them tell you it s'too "late -" you re'entitled to those retroactive payments if they made an error!
