CalWORKs SAR7 rejected: Can screenshots of UI payments count as income verification?
Just submitted my Semi-Annual Report for CalWORKs and my worker sent it back saying my income verification isn't acceptable. I'm on unemployment and sent screenshots from my EDD account showing my payment history. My worker left a voicemail saying this isn't enough proof and they need 'official documentation.' Has anyone else had this problem? Can EDD actually mail payment records or is there another way to prove my unemployment income that CalWORKs will accept? My report is due in 10 days and I'm worried about getting my Cash Aid cut off. This is so frustrating because the screenshot shows EVERYTHING - payment dates, amounts, even my name and claim number!

Unfortunately screenshots aren't considered official documentation for SAR7 income verification. You need an official award letter or payment history from EDD. Login to your UI Online account and look for 'Payment History' or 'Claim History.' You should be able to download and print an official statement. If you don't have a printer, most libraries offer printing services for a small fee.

•Thanks for responding. I don't have a printer at home but I guess I'll try the library. Do you know if the downloaded PDF is different from the screenshot? It shows the same information! Do I need to print it or can I email the PDF to my worker directly?

•5 days?! My report is due in 10 days and mail has been slow lately. Did you call the regular UI number or is there a special number for requesting payment records?

I work for the county (not as an eligibility worker, but I'm familiar with the verification requirements). You have several options for unemployment verification: 1. Print the official payment history from UI Online (PDF format) 2. Request an official statement by calling EDD at 1-800-300-5616 3. Visit an EDD office in person and request a printout 4. Submit a "General Affidavit" form (CW 23) explaining your attempts to get verification The reason screenshots aren't accepted is because they can be easily altered. The county needs documentation they can verify as authentic. If you're worried about the timing, submit the CW 23 by the deadline explaining you've requested EDD documentation but haven't received it yet. This buys you time while showing good faith effort.

•I didnt know about that CW 23 form! Could of saved me so much hassel last year when my boss refused to give me paystubs and my cash aid got cut off for 2 whole months because of it!!!! Why dont the workers tell us about these options???

I've been in the exact same situation! After trying for DAYS to reach EDD (kept getting disconnected), I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual person at EDD in about 10 minutes. I explained I needed official payment records for my CalWORKs SAR7, and they emailed me the documentation that same day. Seriously saved my benefits from being cut off. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE

•I'm definitely going to check this out. I tried calling EDD once last year and gave up after being on hold for 2 hours. Does this really work? Did they email the documentation or mail it?

•They emailed it to me! Just make sure you specifically ask for official payment verification for benefits when you get through. And yes, it really works - I was skeptical too but was desperate since my SAR7 deadline was approaching.

am i the only one who thinks this system is designed to make us fail?? every time we submit paperwork there's ALWAYS something wrong with it. screenshots should be enough proof since it shows all the same info!! they just want to make it hard so people give up and they can save money by cutting people off 😡

•I understand your frustration, but there are legitimate reasons for requiring official documentation. The county has to follow state regulations to prevent fraud. That said, workers should clearly explain all the verification options instead of just saying what ISN'T acceptable. Communication could definitely be improved!

this reminds me of when my CalWORKs worker said my bank statements weren't good enough proof of my savings account because they were printed at home even though they had my name and account number and everything!!! i had to go to the bank and get them stamped!!! so annoying how they make everything so complicated!!! good luck with your SAR7!!

•Ugh that's so annoying! Did you get it resolved in time? I'm really worried about my benefits getting cut off because my rent is due right after my SAR7 deadline.

I'm a benefits advocate, and here's what you should know: If your SAR7 deadline is approaching and you're having trouble getting verification, you can request a "reasonable accommodation" due to timing issues. Call your worker ASAP and explain the situation - that you're actively trying to get the correct documentation from EDD. Also, if you submit your SAR7 with whatever verification you have by the deadline (even if incomplete), and then submit the correct documentation within 30 days, they should restore any benefits that were temporarily discontinued. Make sure to document all your attempts to get the verification (dates you called EDD, etc.). Most importantly, don't miss the deadline - submit something, even if imperfect, and include a written explanation of your efforts to get the proper documentation.

•Thank you so much for this detailed info! This makes me feel much better. I'll definitely submit something by the deadline even if I'm still waiting on the official EDD records. Really appreciate the help!
