CalWORKs SAR 7 submitted online through BenefitsCal - how to confirm it's processed without benefits delay?

Hi everyone. So I completed my Sar 7 periodic update a few days ago on the benefitscal website how do I tell if everything is OK or if my benefits are going to be delayed, should I call my caseworker ? I attached all the income verification documents that I had but didn't get any confirmation email or notification saying they received it. It's due at the end of the month and I'm worried my Cash Aid will get cut off if they don't process it in time. This is my first time submitting online instead of in-person and I'm nervous about it.

You can check the status of your SAR 7 submission in your BenefitsCal account. Log in and click on 'My Applications & Documents' and then look for your recent submission. There should be a status that says something like 'Received' or 'Processing.' If it shows 'Received,' your worker should have it. That said, the system isn't always reliable about updating statuses, so it might be worth calling just to confirm they got everything they need.

Thanks! I just checked and it says "Received" but I still don't know if that means everything is good or if they need more info from me. Do you think I need to call? I can't afford to lose my benefits if something's missing.

Calling is ALWAYS worth it!!! I submitted my SAR 7 online last month and thought everything was fine. They never told me they needed more paystubs and my benefits got cut off for 2 weeks until I figured out what happened. The county workers NEVER actually look at your stuff until the last minute. Call and ask if they need anything else from you!!!!

I always wait 3 days after I submit anything on BenefitsCal then call to make sure they got it. If you submitted it a few days ago you're probably fine since it's not due until the end of the month, but still better to check. Just make sure you're checking your mail too because sometimes they send notices asking for more verification even if you think you sent everything.

I'm checking my mail everyday but still nervous. My landlord isn't understanding about late rent and I rely on that cash aid payment. I'll try calling tomorrow.

Definitely call your worker to confirm they received everything they need. Sometimes the system shows "Received" but the caseworker still needs additional verification that wasn't clear when you submitted. For SAR 7, they need all income verification from the report month, verification of any changes in household composition, and explanations for any income fluctuations. If you submitted all that, you should be fine, but it's always worth checking directly. If you can't reach your worker after several attempts (which is common unfortunately), you can also try contacting the main CalWORKs office and asking to speak with a supervisor or worker of the day to check your SAR 7 status.

Good advice. Also make sure you saved a copy of everything you submitted just in case. I take screenshots of my submissions because the county lost my paperwork twice last year. Better safe than sorry.

Calling the CalWORKs office is definitely your best bet, but I know how frustrating that can be. I used to spend HOURS trying to get through to my worker. Recently I started using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through the phone system faster and it's been a game changer. They have a service that holds your place in the phone queue and calls you back when a worker picks up. Saved me so much time and stress! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE But definitely call one way or another because online submissions can sometimes get lost in their system or flagged for more info without you knowing.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out. I've wasted entire mornings before trying to get through to my worker, and with my work schedule now it's even harder to stay on hold.

benefit cal is so glitchy imo, it says recieved for like everything even when theres problems. my friend had something saying recieved for 2 weeks then suddenly got discontinued because they needed more info but never told her. the website needs so much work!!

YES!!! This is exactly what I'm talking about! The website says everything is fine until suddenly your benefits are cut off. Then they act like it's YOUR fault for not providing something they never asked for!

Just a quick update since there seems to be some confusion - when your SAR 7 shows as "Received" in BenefitsCal, it means the system received your submission, but it doesn't necessarily mean a worker has reviewed it or that everything is complete. The county has until the end of the payment month to process your SAR 7. If you submitted it with several days before the due date, that's great! But definitely follow up with a call to make sure they don't need anything else from you. If you do call and they confirm everything looks good, ask them to make a note in your case file that you called to confirm. That way if there are any issues later, you have a record that you followed up.

Thank you! I'll definitely ask them to make a note that I called to confirm. Learning all these little details the hard way is so stressful.

I've been through this exact situation multiple times! One thing that really helped me was setting up text notifications in my BenefitsCal account if you haven't already. Go to your account settings and enable SMS alerts - they'll text you if there are any updates or if they need additional documents. Also, if you do end up calling and can't get through to your specific caseworker, ask to speak with the "worker of the day" - they can access your case and tell you the status of your SAR 7. Sometimes they can even see notes that aren't visible online about what documents they might still need. Don't stress too much though - you submitted it with time to spare and it shows as received. That's already better than a lot of people who wait until the last minute!

This is really helpful advice! I didn't even know about the text notifications - I'm going to set those up right now. And good to know about the "worker of the day" option, that could save me a lot of time trying to reach my specific caseworker. Thanks for the reassurance too, I'm definitely overthinking this but better safe than sorry with something this important.
