Why does EBT Edge mobile app keep rejecting my CalFresh registration?
I've been trying to register for the EBT Edge mobile app for the past 3 days and it keeps failing! I enter all my CalFresh card info exactly like it appears on my card, birthday matches what's on my account, but then it just shows an error message saying 'We cannot verify your information at this time.' Has anyone else had this problem? I called the EBT customer service number on the back of my card but after waiting 45 minutes, I got disconnected. Really frustrating since I want to check my balance without calling that automated line every time. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong or how to fix this?

•Thanks, I double-checked everything including the zip code. Even tried using my old zip code in case they had outdated info, but still no luck. So frustrating!

There are a few common issues with EBT Edge registration that might help you troubleshoot: 1. Make sure you're using the exact name as it appears in the CalFresh system (not necessarily how it appears on your card) 2. If you've recently received a replacement card, the new card might not be fully activated in the system yet 3. Sometimes there's a 24-hour waiting period after activation before mobile registration works 4. If you've had your benefits for less than 30 days, sometimes the system has trouble verifying new accounts If none of these help, you might need to contact your county office directly. They can verify your information is correct in the system.

•Thank you for the detailed response! The card isn't new - I've had it for about 2 years. But I did have my name legally changed 6 months ago and updated it with the county. Maybe that's causing problems? Is there a way to check what name is in their system without going to the office?

THE APP IS GARBAGE!!!!! I tried for WEEKS and finally gave up. It kept telling me my info wasn't valid when I KNOW it was right. Same problem with ConnectEBT app too. These apps are designed to FAIL so we have to keep calling those stupid phone lines where you can't talk to real people!!!!!

•I don't think that's true... I've been using EBT Edge for almost a year with no problems. Sometimes technology just has glitches. The apps actually save the county money since they don't need as many phone operators.

•If it works so great WHY does everyone I know have trouble with it???? My cousin can't get hers to work either and she's been on calfresh for 5 years!!!

I recently had this exact issue with EBT Edge. After struggling for days, I found out my birth date was entered incorrectly in the CalFresh system (they had the month and day switched). The only way I was able to solve this was by speaking directly with a CalFresh eligibility worker at my county office. I was dreading the phone wait, but I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me through to a real person in about 10 minutes instead of waiting for hours or getting disconnected. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Once I got through, the worker checked my file and fixed the birthdate issue right away. I was able to register for EBT Edge the same day after they updated it.

•Thanks for sharing this! I'll check out that service because I've been disconnected twice now trying to reach someone. Did they need to verify your identity when they fixed the birthdate problem?

Miguel Ramos
•Yes, they asked for my full name, case number, last four of SSN, and date of birth to verify my identity. The worker could see all my account info and told me my legal name change was in the system but there was a flag on my account that needed to be removed. Once she did that, the app registration worked!

This is a common issue that's actually mentioned in the CalFresh FAQ that nobody ever reads (including me until I had problems lol). When you register for EBT Edge, the verification system checks against the information in the CalFresh database, not just your card information. Here are the exact things that must match: - Name (exactly as it appears in the system, including middle initials if used) - Date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY format) - Full EBT card number - Current address including exact ZIP+4 code (not just the 5-digit ZIP) - Case number (which may not be the same as your card number) Also, if anyone in your household has accessed your benefits (like an authorized representative), that can temporarily lock mobile registration. I recommend calling your county office directly and asking them to verify all your information is correctly entered in the system and that there are no flags on your account preventing mobile registration.

•wait we have a case number thats different than the card number? where do u even find that???

•Your case number should be on any official correspondence from the CalFresh office, including your approval notices and Semi-Annual Reports (SAR7). It's usually 10 digits long. However, some counties allow you to register using just your card number - it depends on how your county has configured their system.

UPDATE: I finally got it working! For anyone with the same problem - I had to call my county office directly (used that Claimyr service someone mentioned and it actually worked great). Turns out there was a flag on my account because of my legal name change 6 months ago. Even though they had updated my name, they hadn't removed some verification flag that was blocking the mobile app registration. The worker removed the flag while I was on the phone, and I was able to register for EBT Edge immediately after hanging up. Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's great! Glad it worked out. It's almost always some weird technical thing in their system rather than us doing something wrong.

•SEE THIS PROVES MY POINT!!! It's THEIR system errors not us!!!! But we get blamed for doing it wrong!

Wow, this is such a helpful thread! I'm new to CalFresh and was planning to set up the mobile app soon. It's really good to know about all these potential issues beforehand - especially the thing about name changes and system flags. I had no idea there could be so many technical reasons why registration might fail. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions, especially the tip about Claimyr for getting through to a real person faster. I'll definitely bookmark this post in case I run into similar problems!

•Welcome to the community! You're smart to read through all this before trying to set up the app. I wish I had known about these issues beforehand - would have saved me a lot of frustration! The mobile apps are really convenient once you get them working, so it's definitely worth the effort. And yeah, that Claimyr service was a game-changer for actually reaching someone at the county office without waiting forever on hold.

This thread is so helpful! I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now and was getting so frustrated. I've been trying for 2 days straight with no luck. Reading through all these responses, I think my problem might be similar to @StarStrider's - I also had a name change recently (got married 4 months ago) and updated everything with the county, but maybe there's still some kind of flag or verification issue in their system. I'm definitely going to try that Claimyr service to get through to someone at the county office instead of waiting on hold forever. It's so reassuring to know this is usually a system issue on their end rather than something we're doing wrong. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions!

•I'm also new to this community and this thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I haven't even gotten my CalFresh benefits yet (still waiting for approval) but now I know to be prepared for potential app registration issues. It's really helpful to see that most of these problems seem to be system-related rather than user error. The fact that name changes can cause verification flags is something I never would have thought of. I'm bookmarking all these solutions - especially the Claimyr tip and the suggestion to try ConnectEBT as an alternative. Thanks to everyone for sharing such detailed troubleshooting advice!

As someone who just started receiving CalFresh benefits last month, this thread has been incredibly valuable! I was actually planning to set up the EBT Edge app this weekend, but now I know to be prepared for potential issues. It's really eye-opening to see how many technical problems can occur on the system side - like verification flags from name changes, incorrect birthdates in their database, and account locks from authorized representatives accessing benefits. I had no idea any of these could prevent app registration. The tip about trying ConnectEBT as an alternative is great, and I'm definitely saving that Claimyr service info in case I need to reach the county office. It sounds like a lifesaver compared to waiting hours on hold or getting disconnected. Thanks to everyone who shared their troubleshooting experiences - it's so helpful to know what to expect and that most of these issues are resolvable once you can get through to the right person!

•Welcome to CalFresh and this community! This thread really is a goldmine of information. I wish I had found something like this when I first started dealing with EBT app issues. One thing I'd add from my experience - even if you don't run into problems right away, it's worth testing the app registration sooner rather than later. I waited a few months after getting benefits to set up the mobile app, and by then there were some minor data discrepancies that had built up in the system that made registration fail. Getting it sorted early means you can enjoy the convenience of checking your balance and transaction history right from your phone. Good luck with your setup this weekend!

•This is such great advice! I'm also pretty new to CalFresh (about 6 weeks in) and was putting off setting up the mobile app because I thought it would be straightforward whenever I got around to it. Reading through all these experiences definitely makes me want to tackle it sooner rather than later. The point about data discrepancies building up over time is something I never would have considered. I'm going to try registering this week while everything is still fresh in the system. If I run into any issues, at least now I have a whole toolkit of solutions to try - from double-checking the ZIP+4 code to using Claimyr to reach someone at the county office. Thanks for sharing that insight about timing!

I'm really glad I found this thread! I just started receiving CalFresh benefits about 3 weeks ago and was planning to set up the EBT Edge app this weekend. Reading through everyone's experiences has been so educational - I had no idea there were so many potential technical issues that could prevent registration from working properly. The information about name changes causing verification flags is particularly helpful since I'm planning to get married next year and will likely need to update my information with the county. It's good to know that even after updating records, there might be system flags that need to be manually removed by a county worker. I'm definitely going to bookmark that Claimyr service in case I need help getting through to someone at the county office. The idea of waiting 45 minutes on hold just to get disconnected sounds absolutely terrible! It's also smart to know about ConnectEBT as a backup option if EBT Edge doesn't work. Thanks to everyone who shared their troubleshooting steps and solutions. This community is so helpful for navigating all these system quirks that you'd never think of on your own!

•Welcome to the community! You're being really smart by researching this ahead of time. I wish I had found a thread like this before I tried setting up my EBT app - would have saved me so much frustration! The name change flag issue that @StarStrider dealt with is definitely something to keep in mind for your future wedding. It sounds like the key is making sure to follow up with the county office after any major life changes to ensure there are no lingering verification flags in the system. Good luck with your app setup this weekend, and don't hesitate to come back here if you run into any issues - this community is always ready to help troubleshoot!

I'm new to this community and just got approved for CalFresh benefits last week! This entire thread has been incredibly helpful - I was planning to download the EBT Edge app tomorrow but now I know to be prepared for potential registration issues. It's amazing how many technical problems can happen on the system side that we'd never think of. The tip about checking the ZIP+4 code is something I never would have considered, and knowing about ConnectEBT as a backup option is really valuable. I'm definitely saving the Claimyr service info in case I need to reach the county office - the thought of waiting hours on hold just to get disconnected sounds awful! Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions. It's so reassuring to know that most registration failures are system issues rather than user error, and that they're usually fixable once you get through to the right person.

I'm brand new to this community and just received my CalFresh benefits two weeks ago! This thread is absolutely invaluable - I was literally about to download the EBT Edge app today but now I know to expect potential hurdles. Reading through everyone's experiences, it's clear that most registration failures are due to technical issues in the system rather than anything we're doing wrong, which is both frustrating and reassuring at the same time. The variety of potential problems is eye-opening - from name change verification flags to incorrect birthdates in their database to ZIP+4 code mismatches. I never would have thought to check these specific details. The Claimyr service recommendation keeps coming up and sounds like a real game-changer for actually reaching a human being instead of sitting on hold forever. I'm going to try registering today but if I run into issues, I'll definitely try ConnectEBT as a backup and use Claimyr to get through to my county office if needed. Thanks to everyone for sharing such detailed troubleshooting advice - this community is amazing for helping newcomers navigate these system quirks!

•Welcome to the community! As someone who's also fairly new to CalFresh (about 8 months now), I can definitely relate to that mix of frustration and relief when you realize most app issues aren't your fault. This thread really is like a masterclass in EBT app troubleshooting! I actually had a similar experience when I first tried to register - turned out my county had an old address on file that was causing verification problems. The Claimyr service that everyone mentions really does work - I used it a few months ago for a different issue and got through in under 15 minutes instead of the usual hour-plus wait. Good luck with your registration today, and don't get discouraged if you hit a snag - there's almost always a solution once you can get the right person to look at your account!

I'm completely new to both CalFresh and this community - just got my benefits card in the mail yesterday! This thread is like finding gold - I was about to blindly download the EBT Edge app thinking it would be a simple 5-minute setup, but clearly there's a lot more to it than that. The sheer number of different technical issues people have encountered is both overwhelming and really helpful to know about upfront. What strikes me most is how these aren't user errors but actual system problems on the county's end - verification flags, data mismatches, address issues, etc. The fact that something as simple as a name change can create hidden flags that block app registration is mind-blowing. I'm definitely going to double-check all my information is exactly right in their system before even attempting to register. The Claimyr service sounds like an absolute lifesaver - waiting 45+ minutes just to get disconnected sounds like my worst nightmare! And knowing about ConnectEBT as a backup option gives me a plan B if EBT Edge doesn't work. Thanks to everyone for sharing such detailed experiences and solutions. This community seems incredibly supportive for helping newcomers navigate all these hidden pitfalls!

It really is crazy how many technical issues can happen on their end that we'd never think of. I'm also pretty new here (got my benefits about 2 months ago) and this thread has been such an education. The name change flag thing that @StarStrider dealt with really opened my eyes to how complex their systems are behind the scenes. Definitely take your time to verify all your info is correct before registering - it'll save you so much headache later. And yes, that Claimyr service is a game changer! Good luck with everything and welcome to the community!

I especially appreciate learning about the Claimyr service for getting through to county offices without waiting on hold forever - that sounds like it could save hours of frustration! And knowing about ConnectEBT as a backup option gives me a solid plan B. It's both reassuring and frustrating to learn that most of these registration failures are system issues rather than user error. I'm going to make sure to verify all my information is exactly correct in their database before attempting registration. •Welcome to the community! You're absolutely doing the right thing by researching this beforehand - I wish I had been as prepared when I first got my benefits! This thread really has become like a comprehensive guide to EBT app troubleshooting. It's amazing how many system-side issues can pop up that we'd never anticipate. The ZIP+4 code thing especially caught me off guard when I first read about it. You'll definitely be in a much better position to handle any registration hiccups with all this knowledge. The fact that you already have a backup plan with ConnectEBT and know about Claimyr shows you're well-prepared. Good luck with your setup this weekend, and don't hesitate to come back if you need any help - this community is great at problem-solving together!

As someone who just joined this community and is waiting for my CalFresh application to be processed, this entire thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I had no idea that setting up the mobile app could involve so many potential technical hurdles. Reading through everyone's experiences, it's clear that most registration issues stem from system-side problems rather than user error, which is both frustrating and reassuring. The variety of potential issues is remarkable - verification flags from name changes, ZIP+4 code mismatches, incorrect birthdates in their database, account locks from authorized representatives, and even timing issues with new card activations. These are all things I never would have thought to check on my own. I'm definitely bookmarking the Claimyr service recommendation that multiple people have mentioned - the idea of getting through to a real person in 10 minutes instead of waiting hours on hold (or getting disconnected) sounds amazing. And knowing about ConnectEBT as a backup option is really valuable. Thanks to everyone who shared their detailed troubleshooting experiences and solutions. This community is incredibly helpful for preparing newcomers for these system quirks.
