Still waiting for EBT 4.0 in LA County - last name S - everyone else got theirs?
Anyone else still waiting for the EBT 4.0 card in Los Angeles County? My last name starts with S, and I know they're doing the rollout alphabetically, but it feels like everyone around me has already received theirs. My neighbors (last names R and T) both got their new cards last week. I'm getting worried because my current EBT card expires at the end of the month, and I haven't received any notification about when to expect the new one. Has anyone with last names starting with S-Z in LA County received theirs yet? Or am I just being impatient?

The LA County rollout is definitely taking longer than other counties. I work with CalFresh recipients and can confirm they're still sending out cards through May. Last names S-V are scheduled for this week and W-Z next week according to the schedule. Your current card should still work until the expiration date, and there's usually a grace period. If you haven't received it by the 15th, then I'd start making calls.

•That's a relief! Thank you for the info. Do you know if there's a way to check the status online? The BenefitsCal website doesn't seem to have any updates about it.

•It's completely different timelines for each county! My cousin in San Diego (last name A) just got his card yesterday while friends in Sacramento with last names in the middle of the alphabet got theirs months ago. The counties are not coordinating this rollout at all.

They're seriously so disorganized with this whole rollout! My last name is T and I'm in LA County too and STILL haven't received mine! My roommate got hers weeks ago (last name B). I called the EBT customer service line and after waiting FOR-EVER they just said "it's coming" with no actual date. So frustrating when you're depending on those benefits!!

•That's exactly what I'm worried about! Did they at least tell you what happens if the old card expires before the new one arrives? I can't afford to miss a month of benefits.

I've been helping people navigate this EBT 4.0 transition across several counties. Here's what you need to know: 1. LA County is one of the largest and is moving slower than most 2. Your old card WILL continue to work until you activate the new one, even if it shows an expiration date (they've extended all old cards) 3. They're sending batches of 50,000-100,000 cards per week 4. Once your card ships, you should receive it within 7-10 business days 5. You can check if your card has been mailed by calling 877-328-9677 and selecting the card status option If you need to speak with someone directly at LA DPSS about your specific situation, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a representative without the hours-long wait. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

•This is SUPER helpful information! I didn't realize the old cards would still work past the expiration date. That's a huge relief. I'll try calling that number tomorrow to check my card status. And thanks for the Claimyr tip - those wait times are brutal.

Last name starts with S here too, and I just got my card yesterday! I'm in LA County (San Gabriel Valley area). They're definitely still sending them out. The envelope was super plain and I almost threw it away thinking it was junk mail, so check your mail carefully!

•OMG thank you for mentioning this! I just went through my mail pile again and found it! Plain white envelope that looked like credit card spam. Would have completely missed it if not for your comment!

The EBT 4.0 rollout has been a mess. My household received our cards weeks apart despite having the same last name and address. The worst part is that the notification letters arrived AFTER the cards for half my family. For anyone still waiting, make sure your address is updated on BenefitsCal and check if you've completed your latest SAR7 or recertification. Sometimes they hold new cards if your case has any pending issues.

•Good point about the SAR7! I just submitted mine last month and it was processed. Hopefully that means there won't be any issues with my card delivery. Did everyone in your household have to activate their cards separately?

One more thing to add - I've seen a few cases where the EBT 4.0 cards were sent to old addresses even though people had updated their info on BenefitsCal. If you've moved in the past year, it might be worth confirming your address directly with the county office. The EBT vendor and county systems don't always sync properly.

•EXACTLY what happened to me! They sent it to my old address despite me updating my info MONTHS ago. Had to request a replacement and now waiting AGAIN. The whole system is broken!!
