CalFresh Sun Bucks cards in San Diego - anyone with last name M received theirs yet?

Has anyone in San Diego County with last name starting with M received their Sun Bucks card yet? The EBT office told me they're sending them alphabetically, and I was supposed to get mine by the first week of May 2025. It's now almost the end of the month and nothing in my mailbox. I really need this supplemental food assistance since my benefits were reduced last quarter. Called the county but got stuck in the automated system for 45 minutes before getting disconnected. Getting worried since I budgeted for these extra funds this month.

Thanks, I haven't moved so that's not the issue. Ugh, I hate calling the county office - it's always a nightmare. Will try again tomorrow I guess.

The Sun Bucks supplemental benefit cards are being distributed in batches this quarter. For San Diego County specifically, the schedule should be:\n\nA-G: April 1-15\nH-L: April 16-30\nM-R: May 1-15\nS-Z: May 16-31\n\nSince your last name starts with M, you should definitely have received it by now. There have been some postal delays reported in certain zip codes though. I'd recommend calling your county worker directly (not the main line) if you have their extension, or visiting your local office in person if possible. You'll need to request a replacement if it's truly lost, and that could take another 7-10 business days.

I don't have my worker's direct number, just the main CalFresh line. Maybe I should just go to the office in person? But I work full-time and it's hard to take time off.

Hey there! Same situation here - last name starts with N and I'm also in San Diego (North County area). I just received my Sun Bucks card yesterday, so they're definitely still sending them out for our letter group. I'd give it a couple more days before requesting a replacement.\n\nBTW, when I needed to reach someone at the County CalFresh office last month about my recertification, I used this service called Claimyr that got me through to a live person in about 10 minutes instead of waiting for hours. Saved me so much frustration! Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 showing how it works. Definitely worth it when you need to actually speak to someone.

North County here too! That makes me feel better that you just got yours yesterday. Maybe I'll wait until the end of the week before panicking. And thanks for the tip about Claimyr - I'll check it out if I don't get my card by Friday.

The Sun Bucks program is currently a San Diego County pilot program for CalFresh recipients. It provides an additional $120 quarterly benefit specifically for fresh produce purchases. Riverside County has the Harvest Plus program instead, which works differently - you should receive text notifications about that one when you're eligible.

I NEVER got my sun bucks from the LAST quarter and now we're supposed to get new ones?? The system is a JOKE! Called literally 15 TIMES and no one could tell me where my card was. They kept saying \

Same!! They said mine was sent but I never got it either! So frustrating when you're counting on that money for food. And it's not like we can just call and talk to someone easily...

Just to clarify some misinformation I'm seeing - Sun Bucks are distributed based on your case number, not strictly alphabetically by last name (though there is some correlation). The distribution follows the schedule that was posted above, but there can be variations within each group.\n\nIf you haven't received yours within 10 days after your expected distribution date, you need to submit form SB-45 (Request for Replacement of Unreceived Sun Bucks Card). You can do this online through BenefitsCal or in person. The replacement should be expedited and sent within 5 business days, not 30.\n\nRemember that Sun Bucks expire 90 days after issuance, so don't wait too long to follow up if you think yours is missing.

Thank you for this information! I didn't know about form SB-45 or that I could request it through BenefitsCal. I'll give it a couple more days and then submit the form if needed.

Update: I used my Sun Bucks card today at the farmers market in Oceanside and it worked great! Just as a heads up, the card looks totally different from the regular EBT card - it's yellow with an orange sun logo, so don't throw it away thinking it's junk mail. Also, not all stores accept it, mainly just farmers markets and some grocery stores that specifically signed up for the program.

Last name starts with M here too and still waiting! I'm in the Chula Vista area. Really hope it shows up soon because I was planning to use it at the farmers market this weekend. Has anyone tried calling that Claimyr service that was mentioned? Wondering if it's worth the cost or if I should just wait it out a few more days.
