Anyone in Inland Empire receive P-EBT for kids with 'M' in eligibility letter yet? May 2025 distribution
Has anyone with kids in the Inland Empire area received their P-EBT cards yet? Specifically asking about children whose eligibility letter had an 'M' code on it. We got the notification letter back in March saying my 3 kids qualified for the 2024-2025 school year benefits, but nothing has arrived yet. The letter mentioned May distribution for last names M-R, but it's already the 15th and still nothing in the mail. Getting worried since we're counting on this for summer groceries. Anyone else in Riverside or San Bernardino counties received theirs with the 'M' code? The CalFresh office keeps transferring me around when I call to check status.

•Good to know it's not just us! Did you also get the letter saying mid-May distribution?

The P-EBT distribution for 2024-2025 school year benefits with code M is actually scheduled for May 18-25 according to the CDSS website. This is specifically for the Summer P-EBT portion for children who qualified through the National School Lunch Program. They're rolling out alphabetically, and M-R distribution just started this week. If you haven't received anything by May 30th, then I would recommend following up with the P-EBT helpline at 877-328-9677. Also important to note - the P-EBT card will come in a white envelope that looks like regular mail, not the usual county envelopes. Many people miss it thinking it's junk mail. Make sure your address is current with your child's school district since that's the address they use.

•Thank you for the specific dates! That's super helpful. I've been checking our mailbox every day and will make sure to look carefully at all envelopes. Do you know if they send separate cards for each child or just one for the household?

I'm in San Bernardino and my nephew with last name Miller just got his yesterday! My sister got it in the mail but almost threw it away because it looked like junk mail or a credit card offer. Check every piece of mail carefully!!!! They're definitely going out now but very slowly. Its a white envelope with just a PO Box return address and nothing that says its from the state.

I work with the school nutrition program and can confirm the May P-EBT distribution is happening but it's not instant for everyone in the M-R group. They're being sent in batches over a 7-10 day period. Each child gets their own card, so if you have 3 children, you'll receive 3 separate cards. One thing to note - if your children already had P-EBT cards from previous years, the new benefits may be loaded onto those existing cards rather than sending new ones. Have you checked the balance on any previous cards? If you're having trouble reaching someone at the county office about P-EBT specifically, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). They can help you reach a live representative faster. They have a good video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 P-EBT is technically separate from regular CalFresh, so sometimes the regular CalFresh workers transfer you because they don't handle P-EBT cases directly.

•We never received P-EBT before so these would be our first cards. I'll check out that Claimyr service - I've been on hold for literally hours trying to reach someone who knows about P-EBT specifically. The regular CalFresh people keep transferring me to different departments.

I got my kid's P-EBT yesterday and we're in Moreno Valley!!! But it wasn't in a white envelope like people said it'd be, it was in a yellow envelope for us. And there wasn't ANY indication it was P-EBT until I opened it up!!!! So check EVERYTHING you get in the mail right now. Also I'm confused about something else - does the P-EBT benefit get added to our regular CalFresh EBT or is it totally separate? Because we already get CalFresh benefits for our household.

•P-EBT is completely separate from regular CalFresh benefits. It comes on its own card and has its own balance. The P-EBT benefits won't be added to your regular CalFresh EBT card. You'll need to use both cards separately, but they work similarly at the store - same PIN process and eligible food items. The P-EBT funds also roll over month-to-month and don't expire for a full year after issuance.

this is so confusing!! my kids have N in their code not M does that mean we get ours in june??

•Yes, if your children's code has 'N' then they should be in the N-Z distribution group, which typically comes after the M-R group. According to the schedule, N-Z distribution should begin around May 26th and continue through early June. The letters are based on the child's last name, not the parent's name, so make sure you're checking the right code.

The whole P-EBT system is TRASH!!! This is the third year we've qualified and EVERY SINGLE TIME it's a nightmare. Last year they sent my kids' cards to our old address even though I updated it with the school 3 months before distribution. Then when I called the P-EBT hotline they said I had to wait 90 DAYS before they could reissue!!! My kids were coded as "M" too and we're in Corona but NOTHING in our mailbox yet. And don't even get me started on trying to remember which PIN goes with which card when you have multiple kids. Why can't they just add it all to ONE card???? The people who designed this system clearly don't have children or they would know how ridiculous this is.

•That sounds awful! I'm worried about the address issue too since we moved within the same apartment complex last month. I updated with the school but who knows if that got to the P-EBT system in time. I might ask our old neighbors to check their mail for us too just in case.

Just wanted to update everyone - my son's P-EBT card with the M code arrived today! We're in Redlands area. It came in a plain white envelope like others mentioned, very easy to miss. The card had $490 on it which I think covers summer meals. I noticed something weird though - my son's card says benefits expire in April 2026, but my daughter's card from last year (different last name, different code) expires this August. Does anyone know why they'd have different expiration dates when they're both for the 2024-2025 school year?

•The P-EBT benefits typically have a 12-month expiration from the date they're issued, not a fixed calendar date for everyone. So if your daughter received her benefits last August, they expire this August. Your son's benefits issued now in May 2025 would expire in April/May 2026. This is different from regular CalFresh which operates on a benefit month system. With P-EBT, you have a full year to use the benefits from whatever date they're loaded onto the card. This is why the expiration dates differ even though they're both for the same school year program.

UPDATE: We got our cards today!! All three came at once in separate envelopes. I almost missed them because they were mixed in with credit card offers! Each card has the child's name on it and came with instructions. For anyone still waiting - they're definitely coming, just be patient a few more days. Thanks everyone for the help and info!

•Did you have to activate each card separately? I remember last time having to call three different times and it was such a headache!
