Riverside County CalFresh second payment/reload - did everyone get it yet?
So I got my regular CalFresh benefits loaded on the 12th like normal, but I heard Riverside County was supposed to do some kind of second reload for April? Something about adjusting benefit amounts for inflation or cost of living? My neighbor said she got an extra $78 yesterday but nothing showed up on my EBT card yet. Is this actually happening or did she confuse it with something else? Anyone else in Riverside get this mysterious second payment? My household is just me and my teenage son if that makes a difference.

I'm also in Riverside County and YES I got a second deposit on my EBT card yesterday! It wasn't much, only $65 for my family of 3, but it was definitely a surprise. The transaction just says 'CALFRESH BENEFITS' like normal with no explanation. I called the EBT customer service number and after 40 minutes on hold, they just told me it was 'a supplemental payment' but couldn't explain why we got it. Must be that inflation adjustment you mentioned.

•Thanks for confirming! Did you get any notice about it beforehand? I haven't received any letters or texts from the county about this.

I got nothing extra on mine and I'm in Riverside too (Moreno Valley specifically). Now I'm wondering if I should have received something? My regular benefits came on the 11th which is my normal day. Household of 4 here.

•That's weird that some people got it and others didn't. I'm in Perris and haven't received anything extra yet.

Wait is this for EVERYONE on CalFresh in Riverside?!?! I haven't checked my balance in a few days but now I'm going to!! We're a household of 5 and every little bit helps with how expensive groceries are now!!!!

This isn't random - it's actually the 2025 benefit adjustment that was scheduled to start in April. The second payment is happening for all California counties, but they're rolling it out in phases. Riverside is one of the first counties implementing it. The amount varies based on household size, income, and expenses. Not everyone will get it on the same day - they're staggering the releases through April 15-25. If you don't see it by the 26th, then you should contact your Riverside County office. Some households won't qualify if their benefits are already at the maximum amount for their household size. The inflation adjustment is approximately 7-12% of your regular benefit amount.

I received a small second payment of $47 (single person household) but my sister who also lives in Riverside County hasn't gotten hers yet. When I called the county, I was on hold for over an hour and then got disconnected. So frustrating! I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach a CalFresh worker after multiple failed attempts. They called and waited on hold for me, then connected me when a real person answered. The worker confirmed it's the cost of living adjustment being distributed throughout April. You can see how it works in their video: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Saved me hours of hold time!

•Good to know about that service! I might try it next week if my payment doesn't show up. I've tried calling the county before and it's a nightmare.

•Gonna check this out! I need to talk to someone about why I didn't get the adjustment when everyone else seems to be getting it.

typical riverside county mess up...there not doing it by household size. its all random who gets what. i no someone with 6 kids who got only $25!!! but my neighbor with just herself got $82. makes NO sense at all. they probably messed up the calculation AGAIN.

•That's not accurate. The adjustment isn't purely based on household size - it's calculated based on your specific benefit amount, which varies depending on income, expenses, and deductions. Someone with a larger household but higher income might get a smaller adjustment than a single person with very low income. The calculation is approximately 7-12% of your regular benefit.

Update: Just checked my EBT account this morning and the extra payment finally showed up! Got $71 extra. Seems like they're definitely rolling them out slowly over several days. Thanks everyone for confirming this was actually happening!

I finally got through to someone at the county after waiting 1.5 hours on hold! They told me I didn't get the extra payment because we're already receiving the maximum benefit amount for our household size due to our very low income. So apparently if you're already at the max, you don't get the inflation adjustment. Just wanted to update in case anyone else was confused like me.

•Oh that makes sense! Sorry you didn't get extra but good you're already getting the maximum amount! I think we got some because we're not at the max (my husband works part-time).
