When does Riverside County deposit extra CalFresh allotment in 2025?

Been waiting all month for the extra CalFresh benefits they promised for Riverside County in 2025. My regular benefits come on the 11th (based on my case #), but I thought the supplemental allotment was supposed to come on a different day? My neighbor said she already got hers last week but nothing on my EBT card yet. Does anyone know what day of the month Riverside County deposits these extra benefits? Is it based on case number or something else? Already tried calling the customer service number but gave up after 45 minutes on hold.

they give them out over 10 days starting on the 10th of each month, its based on the last digit of ur case number, same as ur regular benefits

Wait really? So if I get my regular benefits on the 11th, the extra allotment comes on the 11th too? Maybe I didn't get approved for it then... Do you have to apply separately for the extra benefits?

Riverside County CalFresh supplemental allotments follow the same issuance schedule as your regular benefits - it's based on the last digit of your case number (0-9), distributed from the 1st through the 10th of each month. So if your regular benefits come on the 11th, something's not right, as benefits are issued by the 10th at the latest. However, I should note that the "extra allotment" program you're referring to isn't an automatic benefit - it's likely the Riverside County Food Support Program that started in 2025, which requires a separate application through the BenefitsCal portal. Your neighbor probably applied early when they first announced it in December. You'll need to submit the supplemental form in your BenefitsCal account or contact your county worker to request enrollment in the program. It's not automatic even if you already receive regular CalFresh.

Omg thank you so much! I had no idea it needed a separate application. I thought it was automatic like the emergency allotments were during covid. I'll check BenefitsCal right now. And you're right - I meant the 1st not the 11th (I'm case #xxxxx0) - I get confused with the days sometimes.

I had this EXACT same problem last month!!! The customer service line is USELESS - I was on hold for TWO HOURS and then got disconnected. Riverside County is THE WORST with communication. They never told anyone about needing to apply separately for the new Food Support Program. When I finally got through to someone, they told me the extra allotment is NOT automatic and you HAVE to apply separately through BenefitsCal. There's a separate section called "Riverside County Supplemental Food Assistance 2025" that you have to click on. AND it takes up to 30 days to process once you apply!!!!! I'm still waiting for mine to be approved and I applied 3 weeks ago. 😡

Hey, just wanted to share something that saved me SO much time with this exact issue. Instead of waiting on hold forever with the regular CalFresh number, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that holds your place in line and calls you back when a worker is available. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 I was able to talk to an actual Riverside County worker who explained the whole supplemental benefit application process to me. Apparently a lot of people are confused about this new program. The worker helped me apply right over the phone and I got my extra benefits within a week. Worth checking out if you're still having trouble!

To clarify for everyone in Riverside County about the 2025 supplemental food benefits: 1. This is the new Riverside County Food Support Program (RCFSP), which is separate from regular CalFresh 2. You must submit a separate application through BenefitsCal 3. Issuance dates follow the same schedule as regular CalFresh (days 1-10 based on case number) 4. The benefit amount is 30% of your regular CalFresh amount 5. Income limits are 200% of Federal Poverty Level - higher than regular CalFresh 6. You need to recertify for this program every 6 months (not annually like regular CalFresh) When you apply, make sure you have your current income verification ready, as they'll need it even if you already receive regular CalFresh. This program was announced in December 2024 but officially launched January 2025, and many people missed the announcement.

Wait I'm confused. Is this different from the CalFresh emergency allotments? I thought those ended after COVID. Is this something new just for Riverside?

Yes, this is completely different from the COVID emergency allotments which ended in 2023. This is a new Riverside County-specific program that started in 2025 using county funds. It's separate from regular CalFresh but administered through the same department. Only Riverside County residents are eligible, and you need to apply specifically for this program.

Update: Just wanted to thank everyone for their help! I applied for the Riverside County Food Support Program through BenefitsCal yesterday and got an email confirming my application. The county worker I spoke with (thanks to the callback service someone suggested) said I should expect a decision within 10 business days since I'm already verified for regular CalFresh. Turns out the program only started in January and most people didn't know about it. They're going to start sending out notices about it with the regular CalFresh paperwork next month. Thanks again for all the helpful information!

slightly off topic but does anyone know if san bernardino county has something similar? or is this just a riverside thing?

This is currently only a Riverside County initiative. San Bernardino County doesn't have an equivalent supplemental program as of March 2025. Each county in California can implement their own supplemental food programs, but they're not required to. So far, only Riverside, Los Angeles, and San Francisco counties have launched similar supplemental benefits.
