Need San Bernardino County P-EBT phone number - separate from regular CalFresh office?
I've been waiting on my kids' P-EBT benefits for over 3 months now and need to check the status. Does anyone know if there's a dedicated P-EBT phone number for San Bernardino County? Or do I just have to call the regular CalFresh/TAD office? I tried calling the main TAD number but kept getting transferred around and nobody seemed to know anything about P-EBT specifically. The state website is confusing and just has general info. Really need to get this resolved since school's starting soon and I was counting on those food benefits!

Ugh that's what I was afraid of. Did they actually help you when you finally got through or just transfer you around?

P-EBT is actually administered at the state level, not county level. The San Bernardino TAD offices can help with regular CalFresh, but for P-EBT specifically, you should call the state P-EBT Helpline at 877-328-9677. They're open Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm. Just be prepared for long wait times. Make sure you have your children's information ready, including their school details, as they'll need this to look up your case.

Thank you so much! I didn't realize P-EBT was handled by the state instead of the county. That explains why the TAD workers seemed confused when I called. I'll try the state number tomorrow morning.

I called that number last week and they said the new round of P-EBT cards for 2025 are delayed statewide. They're still processing from March!!! So don't expect any quick answers.

I had the EXACT same problem last month trying to get info about my kids' P-EBT cards in San Bernardino. The state number (877-328-9677) is correct, but I spent THREE DAYS trying to get through! I'd wait on hold for 1+ hour then get disconnected. SUPER FRUSTRATING!!!\n\nI finally used this service called Claimyr that held my place in line and had them call me back when an actual human was available. Saved me hours of waiting. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8\n\nWhen I finally got through, the P-EBT worker told me my kids' benefits were delayed because our address in their system didn't match what the school district had provided. So definitely worth checking on!

Actually, P-EBT benefits for 2025 have been delayed statewide, but they're supposed to start issuing cards this month. While Claimyr can help with the wait times (I've used them for CalWORKs issues), just be aware that the P-EBT representatives may not have much information beyond what's on the website until the new benefits actually start rolling out. The address mismatch issue is definitely worth checking though - that was a common problem during the previous P-EBT cycles.

Yes, that's true - thanks for clarifying! The rep did mention the general delay but said our specific case had the address flag too. I should have been clearer about that.

That's really helpful, thanks! I'm going to check out that service because I can't spend hours on hold with two little ones at home. Did they actually solve your problem when you got through?

i think its all confusing bc P-EBT isnt really CalFresh even tho it uses EBT cards?? like its a different program thats for kids who get free school lunch but the money goes on a card like CalFresh does. thats why county workers get confused when u ask them. one time i called san bernardino TAD asking about my daughters P-EBT and they kept transferring me to different departments until someone finally told me to call the state directly. so frustrating!!!

Same here! And the worst part is when they send the P-EBT card it looks almost identical to a regular EBT card which just adds to the confusion. My kid's came in a plain white envelope last year and I almost threw it away thinking it was junk mail!

The P-EBT program is such a mess. I'm in SB County too and have been waiting for my kids benefits since MARCH. Called the state number a million times. When I finally got through, they said my case was

Just to clarify a few things about P-EBT in 2025:\n\n1. P-EBT is a state-administered program (877-328-9677), not county-run like regular CalFresh\n2. The new round of benefits was approved but distribution was delayed statewide\n3. They're issuing benefits in phases based on county and school district\n4. San Bernardino County is in the second phase, scheduled to start receiving cards this month\n5. If your address has changed since your children's school last updated their records, you should notify both the school and the P-EBT hotline\n\nIf you need immediate food assistance while waiting for P-EBT, check if you qualify for regular CalFresh benefits through your county TAD office. The income limits are different, so some families qualify for both programs.

Thank you for breaking it down so clearly! This is super helpful. I'll make sure our address info is up to date with the school too - didn't think about that angle.

my neighbor works for the school district and she told me that P-EBT is always a mess because the schools have to submit student data to the state and half the time the info is wrong or incomplete. so even though its a state program, if ur school messed up the data, ur kids might not get the benefits or they'll be delayed. might be worth checking with ur kids school office too?

To answer your original question: For P-EBT in San Bernardino County, you need to call the state P-EBT hotline (877-328-9677), not your local TAD office. \n\nFor your issue specifically, since you've been waiting 3+ months, I recommend:\n\n1. Call the P-EBT hotline first thing when they open (8am) for shortest wait times\n2. Have your children's school information, student ID numbers, and your current address ready\n3. Ask specifically if there are any \

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow with all that information ready. If that doesn't work, I might try that Claimyr service someone mentioned above - can't spend all day on hold with two kids at home.
