CalFresh deposit missing in Sacramento County - anyone else's EBT benefits delayed this month?

Been checking my EBT card balance all day and nothing's loaded for June yet. It's already the 11th and benefits are ALWAYS in by now. I'm in Sacramento County and starting to get worried since my kids are out of school now and eating everything in sight! Last month benefits came on the 7th like clockwork. No notices about changes or anything. Anyone else experiencing delays this month? Is Sacramento County having some kind of system issue? I can't afford to go grocery shopping without my benefits and the county phone line just keeps disconnecting me after 20 minutes on hold.

same here!! mines supposed to be on the 10th and nothing yet. also sac county. tried calling no answer

OMG glad it's not just me! Have you gotten through to anyone yet? I've tried calling 3 times today!

They're definitely experiencing delays this month. I work with several clients on CalFresh in Sacramento County and about half of them have reported their June benefits are late. According to what I heard, there was a system update over the weekend that's causing delays in benefit issuance for some recipients. Benefits should be loaded within 48-72 hours. If you don't see your benefits by Thursday, I'd recommend contacting your caseworker directly rather than the main line.

Thank you for this info! Do you know if they're going to notify people about the delay? It's so stressful not knowing if there's an actual problem with my case or just a system thing.

Unfortunately, they rarely send notifications about temporary system delays. This happens a couple times a year when they update their systems. Your regular issuance date should return to normal next month. If you need emergency food assistance while waiting, call 211 for referrals to food banks that might be able to help in the meantime.

This happened to me back in February. Try checking BenefitsCal to make sure your case is still active and there aren't any pending actions needed. Sometimes they discontinue benefits without proper notification if they need additional verification documents. Log into your account and check the "My Messages" section to see if there are any notices you might have missed. If your case shows active but no deposit, it's probably the system delay others mentioned.

Just checked BenefitsCal and everything shows active, no messages or alerts. Whew! Guess I'll just wait until Thursday like someone else suggested. So annoying they don't bother to tell us about these things ahead of time.

I just got through to a Sacramento County worker after trying for TWO DAYS. They confirmed there's a system-wide delay affecting about 30% of CalFresh recipients. Benefits should post by end of week. I used Claimyr.com to finally get through - saved me hours of frustration. You just put in your phone number and they call you when it's your turn instead of waiting on hold forever. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Totally worth it for issues like this when you need answers ASAP.

Is anyone else worried about the recertification process this year? My recert is coming up in August and I heard they're being extra strict with income verification. This delay has me nervous they're reviewing our cases more carefully before releasing benefits. My cousin had her benefits cancelled last month after 3 years because they said she didn't send in her utility bills, but she swears she uploaded them on BenefitsCal. The whole system is such a mess!

This delay isn't related to recertification reviews - it's a system-wide technical issue. However, you're right that verification requirements have gotten stricter this year. For your August recertification, I recommend keeping copies of EVERYTHING you submit and requesting delivery receipts for any documents you mail. Also, when you upload to BenefitsCal, take screenshots showing the documents were successfully uploaded. This creates a paper trail if they claim you didn't submit something.

My benefits were delayed last month too (Alameda County though), and they finally posted around 5pm on the 14th - 4 days later than usual. No explanation, no apology, nothing. Just finally showed up. The frustrating part is never knowing if it's a system issue or if there's actually something wrong with your case! I keep emergency food stored now because this seems to happen at least twice a year. The CalFresh system needs serious overhaul.

That's really good advice about keeping emergency food. I'm definitely going to start doing that. Can't believe this is just considered normal! What happens to families who literally have no food when the system randomly decides to delay benefits? So frustrating.

Check ur mail!! i just got home and had a letter from sacto county saying some people would have there benefits delayed this month due to "Processing capacity issues" whatever that means. Of course they sent the letter AFTER the delays started 🙄

OMG typical! I'll check my mail when I get home. Why not send a text or email alert instead of mail that arrives after the problem starts? At least now we know it's definitely a system thing. Thanks for the update!

UPDATE: Sacramento County just issued an official statement. The system delay is now resolved and all pending June benefits should be issued by midnight tonight. If you don't receive your benefits by tomorrow morning, then you should contact your caseworker as it may indicate a separate issue with your specific case. They apologized for the inconvenience and communication delay.
