I received different amounts for my two kids - one got $402 and the other got $272. Anyone know why there's a difference? They're at the same school and both get free lunch. Now I'm wondering if the lower amount one will get more loaded later?
The amount can vary based on when your child was enrolled in school or when they became eligible for free/reduced lunch. If one child wasn't eligible for the full school year, they get a prorated amount. You could call the P-EBT hotline to ask about the specific calculation for your kids.
I'm a benefits navigator with a local nonprofit. Quick clarification - the Homeless CalFresh Transitional Program (HCTP) has specific rules about payment processing that differ from regular CalFresh. Your second payment should be issued within 5 business days of them processing your activity log and written statement. Since you submitted through BenefitsCal, I strongly recommend calling your county office immediately. Ask specifically for the "HCTP specialist" or "homeless services liaison" - most counties have dedicated staff for this program. Explain that you submitted documentation by the deadline but haven't received your payment. Also important: Take screenshots of your BenefitsCal submission confirmation page if you still have access to it. This proves you submitted on time if there's any dispute.
Thank you everyone for the helpful information! I just submitted my recertification form and listed the P-EBT cards under the food benefits section but noted they aren't counted as income. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly! If I have any issues, I'll definitely try that Claimyr service someone mentioned since calling the county is always such a headache.
did u try that claimyr thing someone mentioned? my friend used it for her medi-cal issue and said it actually worked. might be worth it if ur desperate to talk to someone
I used Claimyr when my renewal was messed up and it actually worked pretty well. They called me when they reached someone at the county office. Saved me hours of hold time. Definitely worth it in an emergency situation like this.
UPDATE: I wanted to let everyone know what happened. I took all your advice and it really helped! I called EBT customer service again and specifically asked for the CF-303 form. They emailed it to me and I filled it out right away. I also filed a police report online (they gave me a report number immediately). I couldn't get through to my county office by phone after trying for hours, so I used that Claimyr service someone recommended. It worked! They got me through to a actual person at the county in about 40 minutes. The worker told me they could process an emergency replacement request that would be reviewed within 48 hours because I had children in the household. I also went to the food bank this morning and they gave us enough to get by for a few days. Thank you all for your help during this nightmare!
This is excellent news! I'm so glad you were able to get through. The 48-hour review is exactly what should happen in cases with children in the household. Make sure to follow up if you don't hear anything by the end of the second business day. And great job getting to the food bank as well - that's exactly what they're there for.

If you haven't received a notification letter explaining your P-EBT distribution schedule, you should be able to check your status through the P-EBT Parent Portal at ca.p-ebt.org. You'll need your child's P-EBT card number to log in. The portal should show your payment history and any pending payments. Alternatively, you can call your county CalFresh office directly rather than the main P-EBT hotline, as they often have more specific information about local distribution schedules. Just make sure to have your case information and child's details ready when you call.

•I didn't know about the parent portal! Thank you - I'll try logging in there first before making any calls. That would be so much easier if I can just check online.
