CalFresh benefits not showing up in BenefitsCal account after EBT card reload date

Is anyone else having trouble seeing their CalFresh cases in the BenefitsCal portal? My benefits are supposed to reload tomorrow (the 10th), but when I logged in today to check my balance, my entire case isn't showing up! I can see my Medi-Cal but the CalFresh case just disappeared. I checked my EBT card balance through the phone system and it's showing $0 which is normal before reload day, but I'm freaking out that my benefits won't load tomorrow if my case isn't even visible online. I just did my SAR7 last month and everything was approved. Anyone else experiencing this glitch or know what's happening?

Did you try checking your EBT card balance through the phone number? I'm wondering if it's just the online system having issues but benefits are still processing normally.

This happens every few months when they do system updates. I've been on CalFresh for 5 years and the BenefitsCal portal (and the old C4Yourself before that) regularly has glitches where cases temporarily disappear. As long as you're current on your reporting and haven't received a discontinuance notice in the mail, your benefits will probably still load on schedule. The online system and the actual benefit issuance system are separate. Try not to panic - mine disappeared for a whole week last quarter and then everything came back online AND my benefits loaded normally on the 11th.

Thank you for explaining this! I didn't realize the online portal could have issues separate from the actual benefits system. Will try to be patient and check my card tomorrow when benefits are supposed to load.

Not always true tho. My sister's disappeared and then she didn't get her benefits. Turned out they needed some verification docs but the notice got lost in the mail. Better safe than sorry!

It could be several things: 1. System maintenance as mentioned 2. Your quarterly report or annual recertification might be due 3. The county might need verification documents 4. There could be an income discrepancy that triggered a review I'd recommend calling your county office directly to check what's happening with your case. If you recently submitted your SAR7 and have the confirmation number, have that ready. Also check your mail carefully - sometimes notices about required actions get mixed with other mail and overlooked.

I did submit my SAR7 and got approval, but maybe there's something else they need. I've been calling the county number all morning and can't get through - just the automated message saying high call volume and to call back later. So frustrating when there might be something wrong with my case!

Been dealing with the same issue since yesterday! The BenefitsCal website has been super glitchy lately. Last month it showed my benefits as "pending" for 5 days after they were already loaded onto my card. The online system and the actual EBT system don't always sync properly. If you need to speak with someone at your county office but can't get through, I recently discovered this service called Claimyr that helped me reach an actual person. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Basically they wait on hold for you and call you when they reach a real person. Saved me from waiting on hold for hours when I had an issue with my verification documents last month. Might be worth checking out if you need answers quickly.

Thank you for the tip! I'll check out this service if my benefits don't load tomorrow. I hate spending hours on hold only to get disconnected when I finally reach the front of the queue.

I work for a community organization that helps people with CalFresh applications. This is actually a known issue right now in several counties. The BenefitsCal portal is undergoing updates to prepare for the new income reporting thresholds being implemented for June 2025. Your benefits should still load on schedule as the EBT card system runs separately from the online portal. However, if your benefits don't appear by the end of your scheduled issuance day, then you should contact your county office immediately. If multiple days pass and you don't receive your benefits, you can also request an expedited replacement if you're facing a food emergency. This requires speaking directly with a county eligibility worker who can issue emergency benefits in some cases.

Thank you for this information! I didn't know about the system updates for the new income thresholds. I'll wait until tomorrow to see if my benefits load as scheduled before panicking more.

Do you know how long the system update is supposed to last? My social worker mentioned something about the income limits changing but didn't say it would affect the online system.

OMG thank you for updating! I just checked and you're right - my benefits loaded even though the case still isn't showing online. What a relief! The systems really are separate.

That's good to know! I was really stressing because I have 3 kids and we really depend on those benefits for groceries. Seems like I should trust the EBT system more than the website!

This is such a relief to read! I'm a single parent and was having a panic attack thinking something went wrong with my case. My benefits are supposed to load on the 15th and my case disappeared from BenefitsCal 3 days ago. Reading everyone's experiences here makes me feel so much better - especially seeing that Sunny's benefits loaded even with the case not showing online. I'll stop obsessively checking the portal and just wait for my EBT card to reload. Thank you all for sharing your experiences, this community is so helpful when the system is being confusing!

I totally understand that panic! As a fellow parent, there's nothing scarier than thinking your food assistance might be cut off. It's so reassuring to see everyone sharing their experiences - it really shows how common these website glitches are. The community support here is amazing when you're dealing with these stressful system issues. Hopefully your benefits load smoothly on the 15th and your case shows back up online soon!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My case disappeared from BenefitsCal yesterday and my benefits are supposed to reload on the 13th. I was getting really worried until I read through all these comments - it's so helpful to know this is a widespread issue with the online system and not necessarily a problem with our actual cases. I'm going to try calling the EBT customer service line to check my balance instead of relying on the website. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, especially @Sunny Wang for that update about benefits loading despite the case not showing online. This gives me hope that everything will work out normally!

I'm so glad this thread exists too! I was literally losing sleep over this when my case first disappeared. The EBT customer service line (1-877-328-9677) is definitely more reliable for checking your actual balance than the website. And yes, @Sunny Wang s'update was such a lifesaver - knowing that benefits can still load even when the case isn t'visible online took away so much anxiety. It s'crazy how these technical glitches can cause so much stress when you re'depending on these benefits to feed your family. Fingers crossed your benefits load normally on the 13th!

I'm new to CalFresh and this is my first time experiencing this issue - my case also disappeared from BenefitsCal yesterday and I was absolutely terrified that I did something wrong! Reading through everyone's experiences here has been incredibly reassuring. It's amazing how a simple website glitch can cause so much panic when you're relying on these benefits. I'm supposed to get my benefits on the 16th and was planning to spend the weekend worrying, but now I feel much more confident that it's just a technical issue. Thank you all for creating such a supportive community where newcomers like me can learn from your experiences. I'll check my EBT balance through the phone system instead of stressing about the website!
