DMV Notice of Transfer not confirmed online - What to do?
Hey everyone, I just sold my car and submitted a notice of transfer online with the DMV today. I'm a bit worried because the page closed without confirming and I didn't get any confirmation email. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm planning to call the DMV to make sure it went through. Any advice on what I should say or ask when I get through to an agent?

Ugh, the DMV website is so frustrating! I had a similar issue last month. When you call, make sure to tell them exactly when you submitted it online. They should be able to look it up in their system. Good luck!

•Totally agree. Their website is from like 1995 or something 🙄 I always take screenshots now just in case

Pro tip: Always, ALWAYS take screenshots when dealing with government websites. It's saved my butt more times than I can count.

I found a way to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

•Sounds kinda sketchy. Is it legit?

•Totally get the skepticism, but yeah, it's legit. I was desperate after being on hold for hours and it actually worked. Saved me a ton of time.

•20 bucks tho? 😬 That's steep for a phone call

•I hear ya, but for me, it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting way more than $20 worth of time on hold.

Here's what you need to do when you get through to a DMV agent: 1. Provide the date and approximate time you submitted the notice online 2. Give them the VIN and license plate number of the car you sold 3. Ask them to confirm if the notice is in their system 4. If it's not, ask about the process to submit a new one 5. Request a confirmation number or email for your records 6. Find out if there's anything else you need to do to complete the process Remember to be patient and polite. DMV staff deal with frustrated people all day, so a little kindness goes a long way. Good luck!

Quick question - did you keep a copy of the title with the release of liability section filled out? That can be a lifesaver if the online submission didn't go through.

•Oh shoot, I didn't even think about that. I'll have to double check if I still have it. Thanks for the reminder!

This happened to me last year and it was a NIGHTMARE. Turns out the notice never went through and I got parking tickets for a car I didn't even own anymore. Fight tooth and nail to get that confirmation!

•Oof, that's rough. Did you manage to get the tickets dismissed?

•Eventually, yeah. But it took months of back and forth. Learned my lesson the hard way 😫

Hot take: the DMV intentionally makes their website confusing so more people have to come in person and they can justify their bloated budgets. Wake up sheeple! 🐑👀
