FAFSA application shows \
I'm totally frustrated with the FAFSA website right now! After weeks of back-and-forth, we finally fixed my daughter's missing signature issue on her 2024-2025 application. When she clicked submit, we got some error message saying "please try again." We signed out and back in as instructed, but now under "Activity" it shows NO applications or cases at all! When I try to start a new application, the system says "24-25 already completed" but we can't access the completed form anywhere. It's like the application exists according to the system but we literally can't view, edit, or do anything with it. Has anyone else experienced this weird limbo state? Any suggestions on how to get back into her application or at least confirm it actually submitted properly?

Thanks for responding! I'll try clearing the cache right now. Did your application eventually show up again, or did you have to call them?

My son had something similar happen. The FAFSA site is having major glitches this year with the new changes. We waited 48 hours and the application suddenly appeared under

I didn't think to check under Completed Applications! I just looked and it's not there either. This is so frustrating - it seems like it exists but we can't access it anywhere.

This is a known issue with the 2024-2025 FAFSA rollout. When the system says \

Thank you for the detailed explanation. We submitted it yesterday morning, so we'll give it until tomorrow. My daughter hasn't received any emails yet. I'll try calling if it doesn't appear by then.

I'm having the exact same problem! Spent hours trying to submit my son's FAFSA and now it's in some ghost state. The whole system is messed up this year! I'm going to try calling tomorrow if it doesn't fix itself.

The new FAFSA Simplification Act changes have made this the worst application season I can remember. My niece is having similar issues too. The redesigned form is supposedly simpler but the technical problems are worse than ever.

I had to call about a similar issue last week. After 2 HOURS on hold, I finally spoke to someone who could help. They confirmed my daughter's application was actually in their system despite not showing up in our portal. They had to manually reset something on their end to make it visible again. You'll likely need to call them directly, but be prepared for a very long wait.\n\nI recently discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a FAFSA agent in about 15 minutes instead of hours of hold time. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ\n\nMight be worth it considering how frustrating these FAFSA issues are right now.

Thank you for the tip! Two hours on hold sounds awful, especially with no guarantee of getting through. I'll check out that service if we end up needing to call. Did they tell you what caused the issue in the first place?

They said it was related to the new SAI calculation system having synchronization issues with the user portal. Apparently when you get that error on submission, the application data is saved but sometimes the status update fails. They had to manually mark it as \

THE FAFSA SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN THIS YEAR!!!! I work in a high school counseling office and we've had DOZENS of students with this exact problem. The Department of Education keeps claiming they're fixing things but it's a DISASTER. Some students have had to completely redo their applications because they got stuck in this weird limbo state. I would NOT wait more than 48 hours - call them ASAP before application deadlines pass!!

omg this is terrifying!! my state deadlines for grants is coming up soon. what happens if the system doesnt fix itself by then??? will students lose their financial aid??

Unfortunately, some states are being strict about their deadlines despite the FAFSA issues. Others have extended deadlines because of the problems. Check your state's financial aid website ASAP to see if they've made any announcements about extensions!

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! It's reassuring to know the data likely isn't lost. We'll wait the 72 hours and then call with those specific terms if needed. It's so frustrating that so many families are dealing with this.

Great news! Glad it resolved itself without requiring a call. This is happening to many families - the system is eventually processing most applications correctly, just with frustrating delays. Make sure your daughter keeps checking her email for any verification requests, as those have been delayed too in many cases.

That's such a relief! Ours just showed up too after about 3 days. The whole system needs a major overhaul - this is way too stressful for something so important to students' futures.
