WorkSource chat actually worked! Fixed my claim after weeks of phone call failures
Just had to share a WIN with you all after struggling with my unemployment claim for nearly a month! My benefits were on hold with some weird identity verification flag that came out of nowhere (even though I've been on the same claim since February). After calling ESD literally 47 times over 3 weeks and either getting disconnected or sitting on hold until their office closed, I finally took someone's advice to try the WorkSource chat feature instead.\n\nOMG what a difference! Connected with an agent named Maria within 15 minutes. She was able to look at my claim immediately, saw that my ID verification had actually been completed weeks ago but wasn't properly noted in their system! She sent a message to the claims department while I was still in chat, and she confirmed my hold would be removed within 48 hours.\n\nJust checked my account this morning and BOOM - payment processed! If you're stuck in endless phone hell, seriously try the WorkSource chat option. Completely changed my experience and saved my sanity (and probably my electricity bill from all those hours on hold lol).\n\nThank you to everyone in this community - your advice literally put food on my table this week!

It's actually through the WorkSource website, not directly on ESD's site! Go to worksourcewa.com and log in with your SAW credentials. Then look for the little chat bubble icon in the bottom right corner. It's only available during business hours (8:30-4:30 I think). Hope this helps you get through!

Great tip on using the WorkSource chat feature! This is actually one of the lesser-known but highly effective ways to resolve certain claim issues. For those wondering, the WorkSource chat agents have limited capabilities compared to full ESD claim specialists, but they can:\n\n1) Verify identity verification status\n2) Check for general claim holds and reasons\n3) Send internal messages to claims units\n4) Reset certain account access issues\n5) Provide accurate status updates\n\nThey cannot, however, remove adjudication holds directly, process appeals, or make determinations on complex eligibility issues. Some issues still require speaking with an actual ESD agent, but WorkSource chat is definitely worth trying first!

Thanks for clarifying what they can and can't do. I've been wondering why my claim is showing \

I tried the chat yesterday and they told me they couldn't help with my issue!!!!! Had to go back to calling which is IMPOSSIBLE. Been trying since 7:59am every day and the system just hangs up on me by 8:02. This is SO FRUSTRATING I COULD SCREAM. The system is DELIBERATELY designed to prevent people from getting benefits they're entitled to. I've paid into unemployment for 15 YEARS and now when I need it I can't get through to a human being?!?!?!

I was in exactly your situation last month with the automatic disconnects. Try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that connects you directly to an ESD agent without having to do the redial game. They helped me get through after 3 weeks of failed calling. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally changed my experience and I got my adjudication resolved within days after finally speaking with someone.

is any1 else confused why some issues get fixed so fast and others take foreverrr? my roommate got her claim fixed in 2 days but im going on week 6 with same issue

It's because ESD has different queues for different issues. Identity verification is usually fast (1-2 weeks), separation issues take longer (3-5 weeks), and anything involving employer disputes or multiple job separations can take 6+ weeks. Plus there's a ton of randomness thrown in because they're so understaffed. I worked at WorkSource (not ESD directly) for 8 months last year so I got to see how the sausage is made...it's not pretty lol.

I don't understand why ESD can't get their systems working properly together. If the OP's identity was already verified but \

Always keep screenshots of EVERYTHING with ESD. Confirmation numbers, submitted forms, even chat logs. I learned that the hard way. Their systems are so fragmented that things just disappear into the void sometimes.

I've been on Standby for 3 weeks and my employer was supposed to Submit something but my status still says pending. Can worksource chat help with standby issues or just regular claims? Anyone know? My boss says he submitted everything but nothing's happening. Thx

WorkSource chat can check if your employer's standby request was received and processed, but they can't approve it themselves. For standby claims, the employer needs to have submitted Form 540-032-222 and verified your return-to-work date. Common holdup is that employers think they submitted everything but missed one of the required fields. The WorkSource agent can at least tell you if the form was received properly and what specific information might be missing.

I had a really different experience with WorkSource chat unfortunately. The agent I spoke with kept giving me generic answers and ultimately told me I just needed to wait for adjudication to complete. When I asked how long that might take, they said

Contested claims are the worst - that's why you're having a different experience than OP. When an employer contests, it automatically goes into the deeper adjudication queue that WorkSource can't help with. Those honestly need a full ESD agent who can review the evidence from both sides. But yeah, I've noticed WorkSource chat is hit or miss depending on who you get and what your specific issue is.

That makes sense. Wish they'd just tell me that upfront rather than keeping me in the dark. Thanks for explaining!
