Why did my unemployment get denied by Washington ESD?
Got a letter yesterday saying my Washington ESD claim was denied and I'm completely confused. I worked at a restaurant for 2 years before getting laid off last month due to slow business. The denial letter mentions something about 'voluntary quit' but I definitely didn't quit - my manager told me they had to let me and 3 other servers go because of budget cuts. I have the text messages from my manager about the layoff. How do I prove this was actually a layoff and not me quitting? This makes no sense and I really need these benefits to pay rent.
