Where to find ESD appeal hearing results after status shows 'completed'?
I had my appeal hearing with OAH last week for my ESD disqualification, and now when I check the online portal it just shows 'completed' under the appeal status. I've looked everywhere on eServices but can't find any actual decision or documents showing if I won or lost my appeal. It's been 5 days already! I'm getting really anxious because I need this money for rent next month. Has anyone gone through the appeals process recently? Where exactly do I find the actual hearing results? Do they mail them or should they be somewhere in my online account?

The appeal decision doesn't show up instantly in eServices. You should receive the official decision by mail within 7-10 business days after your hearing. Sometimes it takes even longer if they're backlogged. Keep checking your physical mail. You can also call OAH directly at their main number to ask about the status of your written decision if it's been more than 10 days.

Thanks! I was looking in all the wrong places. I'll watch my mailbox then. Do you know if they'll ever upload the decision to eServices eventually, or is it just mail only?

According to WAC 192-04-180, the Office of Administrative Hearings is required to mail a written decision to all parties within 60 days of the date the appeal was filed. However, in practice, most decisions are mailed within 2 weeks of the hearing. The decision will arrive by regular mail, not certified mail, so check your mailbox carefully.\n\nIf you're still waiting after 2 weeks, I recommend calling the OAH office that handled your hearing. You can find their number on any previous correspondence you received from them. The decision will eventually be uploaded to your eServices account, but the mail typically arrives first.

Thank you for the detailed info! 60 days seems like such a long time but glad to hear it's usually faster. I'll wait another week before calling.

I checked both of those places and nothing new there. Actually hadn't thought to look under pending issues though, so thanks for that suggestion!

I just went through this exact thing in January! My status said completed for almost two weeks with no update anywhere. Then I randomly got an envelope from ESD with the decision. Spoiler alert: I won my appeal! The back pay hit my account about 10 days after I got the letter. Fingers crossed for you!!

Congrats on winning your appeal! That gives me hope. I'm pretty sure I had a strong case but you never know with these things.

If you need to talk to someone at ESD about this, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. After my appeal was completed, I had issues with my backpay not showing up and was going crazy trying to reach someone. Claimyr got me through to an actual ESD agent in about 30 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. Check out their demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - it honestly saved me so much frustration. Their system holds your place in line so you don't have to keep redialing.

I hadn't heard of this service before. Might try it if I don't get my letter by next week. Thanks for sharing!

It definitely worked for me. They just help you get through the phone system. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for 3 days straight to reach someone.

You might need to call the Office of Administrative Hearings directly at 800-583-8271. When I had my appeal hearing last month, the judge actually told me during the hearing that decisions don't automatically show up in eServices - they mail them out first. I got mine about 9 days after my hearing date. Don't rely on eServices for this!

That's really helpful - my judge didn't mention anything about that during my hearing! I've been obsessively checking eServices for nothing.

when i had my hearing the judge said something about they have to write up the whole thing and its like a 20 page document with all the testimony and stuff thats why it takes so long, its not just a yes or no answer

Just as a follow-up, did you receive anything in your mail yet? Sometimes the mail carrier might miss delivering it or it could get lost. If it's been more than 15 business days since your hearing, I'd definitely recommend calling OAH directly to ask about the status.

Not yet - it's been 5 business days since the hearing and 3 days since the status changed to completed. Based on everyone's comments, I'm going to wait until next week before I start calling. Thanks for checking back!
