When will my Washington ESD unemployment be deposited - timing question
I filed my weekly claim on Sunday night and it shows as processed on my Washington ESD account. My claim status says approved but I still haven't seen the deposit hit my bank account. It's been 3 days now. When should I expect to see the money? I'm getting really anxious because I have rent due tomorrow and I'm counting on this payment.

Usually takes 2-3 business days after your weekly claim is processed. Since you filed Sunday night, you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Check your payment history on the Washington ESD website to make sure it actually went through.

•Thanks! I checked and it does show as paid on Tuesday. Hopefully it hits my account tomorrow then.

•Mine always comes on Wednesday when I file Sunday night. Different banks process at different times though.

Are you sure your direct deposit info is correct in your account? I had this happen once and realized I had the wrong routing number.

•Yeah I double checked that. Same account I've been using for months.

If you're having trouble getting through to Washington ESD to check on payment issues, I found this service called Claimyr that helps you actually reach someone on the phone. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ and their website is claimyr.com. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

•How much does that cost though? I'm already broke waiting for my benefits lol

•It's worth it when you really need to talk to someone. Better than missing payments because you can't get through.

Washington ESD payment schedule depends on when you file and what day of the week it is. Sunday filers usually see deposits Tuesday-Thursday. Friday filers might not see it until the following week.

•I always file on Sunday mornings and get paid Wednesday like clockwork. Been doing UI for 4 months now.

•Good to know! I'll make sure to file Sunday mornings from now on.

omg this system is so stressful!! why cant they just tell us exactly when payments come instead of making us guess

•I know it's frustrating but they do explain the timeline in the claimant handbook. Most people just don't read it.

•who has time to read a whole handbook when youre worried about paying bills

Check if your bank has any delays. Some credit unions take an extra day to process ACH deposits from government agencies.

•I'm with Chase so usually pretty fast. But good point about checking with them.

I've been waiting 5 days for mine and starting to panic. Filed Wednesday and still nothing. Should I be worried?

•Wednesday filings sometimes don't process until the following Tuesday. Check your claim status online first.

•It says processed and paid but no money in my account yet. This is so stressful.

•This is exactly when Claimyr comes in handy. You can actually talk to someone at Washington ESD to find out what's going on with your payment instead of just wondering.

Sometimes there are system glitches that delay payments. Happened to me twice last year and both times I had to call to get it sorted out.

•How long did it take to resolve when you called?

•Once I got through to someone, they fixed it same day. Getting through was the hard part - took me like 50 tries.

Pro tip: if you have Key Bank they usually post Washington ESD deposits around 3am on Wednesday mornings. Other banks vary but most are Wednesday or Thursday.

•Wells Fargo is usually Wednesday afternoon for me.

•Chase has been Thursday mornings but sometimes Wednesday evening.

Just to clarify the timeline: Washington ESD processes payments Monday-Friday. Weekend claims get processed on Monday. Then it takes 1-3 business days for your bank to post the deposit depending on their ACH processing schedule.

•why is it so complicated though? other states seem to have faster payments

•It's pretty standard actually. The banking system just takes time to process electronic transfers.

UPDATE: finally got through to Washington ESD using that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier. Turns out there was a verification flag on my account that was holding up payments. They cleared it and said I should see backpay within 24 hours.

•Oh wow that's exactly what I was worried about. Glad you got it sorted!

•See? Sometimes you really do need to talk to a human to figure out what's going on.

•What kind of verification flag was it? I might have the same issue.

For future reference, you can check your payment status by logging into your Washington ESD account and looking at the 'Payment Activity' section. It will show the date processed and estimated deposit date.

•I did check that but it just says 'processed' without giving an exact deposit date.

Chloe Robinson
•Right, they don't give exact dates because it depends on your bank. But if it says processed you should see it within 2-3 business days max.

I always take a screenshot of my weekly claim confirmation just in case there are any issues later. Saved me once when they said I didn't file but I had proof.

•Smart! I should start doing that too.

Just want to add that if anyone else runs into payment delays or needs to check on claim issues, Claimyr really does work. I've used it three times now when I couldn't get through the regular way. Much less stressful than spending all day redialing.

•I might have to try that if my next payment is late. Getting through to Washington ESD is basically impossible sometimes.
