What days does Washington ESD unemployment pay - when should I expect my deposit?
I just got approved for unemployment after waiting 3 weeks in adjudication and I'm wondering what days Washington ESD actually sends out payments. My weekly claim was processed on Tuesday but I haven't seen anything in my bank account yet. Does anyone know the typical payment schedule? I'm using direct deposit if that makes a difference.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you filed your weekly claim on Sunday or Monday, you should see the deposit by Wednesday or Thursday depending on your bank. Direct deposit is usually faster than the debit card option.

•Thanks! I filed on Monday so hopefully I'll see it tomorrow. Do they send any notification when the payment is sent?

•You should get an email confirmation and you can check your payment history in your Washington ESD account online.

I've been getting mine every Wednesday for the past month. Sometimes it shows up late Tuesday night if your bank processes early.

•Good to know! Which bank do you use? I have Chase and wondering if they're typically fast or slow with these deposits.

•I use Wells Fargo and it's been pretty consistent. Chase should be similar timing.

be careful because if theres any issues with your claim they can delay the payment without telling you. happened to me last month when they wanted to verify my job search activities

•Oh no, how did you find out there was an issue? Did they contact you or did you have to call?

•had to call them, spent 2 hours on hold. thats when I found out about claimyr.com - they help you get through to an actual person instead of waiting forever on hold

•Never heard of that service, how does it work exactly?

The payment schedule can vary if there are holidays or if Washington ESD systems are down for maintenance. Generally Tuesday/Wednesday is correct but I've seen delays during holiday weeks.

•That makes sense, thanks for the heads up about holidays affecting the schedule.

•Yeah I remember Memorial Day week my payment came Thursday instead of Wednesday.

Wait, you got approved after only 3 weeks? Mine has been in adjudication for 6 weeks now and I can't get anyone on the phone to tell me what's going on. Every time I call the Washington ESD number I get hung up on after waiting an hour.

•This is exactly why I mentioned claimyr earlier - they basically call for you and get you connected to a real person. I watched their demo video https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ and decided to try it when I was stuck in adjudication hell

•Is it legit though? I'm desperate but don't want to get scammed.

I get my payments on Wednesday mornings usually around 6am. Been consistent for months now.

•That's reassuring to hear it's been consistent for you. Hopefully mine will be the same.

•Yeah once you get in the rhythm it's pretty predictable. Just make sure you file your weekly claims on time.

The Washington ESD website has a payment calendar but it's not always accurate. I've learned to just expect it Wednesday and be pleasantly surprised if it comes Tuesday night.

•Good strategy! I'll try not to stress about the exact timing then.

•The payment calendar is more of a guideline than a strict schedule unfortunately.

Just want to add that if you're using the Washington ESD debit card instead of direct deposit, those payments usually take an extra day or two to process.

Justin Chang
•Good to know! I'm using direct deposit so hopefully that speeds things up.

•Yeah the debit card is slower but some people prefer it for budgeting reasons

One more tip - if your payment is delayed beyond Thursday, definitely call Washington ESD to check on your claim status. Sometimes there are identity verification issues or other holds that they don't notify you about.

•Will do, thanks for all the helpful advice everyone!

•Yeah good luck getting through on the phone though. I'm definitely going to try that claimyr service if my payment doesn't come through this week.

For what it's worth, Washington ESD processes payments in batches, so if you're new to the system or just got approved, you might be in a later batch and see your payment Thursday instead of Wednesday initially.

Justin Chang
•That makes sense since I just got approved. I'll be patient and wait until Thursday before worrying.

•Yes, new claims often take a few days longer to process in the payment system.

update on the claimyr thing - they actually got me through to someone at Washington ESD who explained my adjudication delay was because they needed to verify my previous employer info. got it sorted out in one call instead of weeks of trying

•OK you've convinced me, I'm going to try them. This is getting ridiculous.

Just as a general FYI, Washington ESD payment schedules can change during high-volume periods. Last year during the holiday season they had some delays, but they usually post updates on their website when that happens.

Justin Chang
•I'll keep an eye on their website then. Thanks for the heads up about potential seasonal delays.

•Yeah the website is worth checking if your payment is ever late

One last thing - make sure your bank account info is up to date in your Washington ESD profile. I had a friend whose payments got delayed for weeks because she moved and forgot to update her banking info.

•Good reminder! I just double-checked and everything looks correct.

•Yes, outdated banking info is a common cause of payment delays that people don't think about.

Update: I tried that claimyr service and actually got through to Washington ESD! Turns out my employer disputed my claim and I had to provide additional documentation. Would have been stuck in limbo for months without knowing. Highly recommend if you're having issues.

just want to add one more plug for claimyr - if anyone reading this is stuck in adjudication or having issues getting through to Washington ESD, seriously check them out. saved me so much stress and time

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been through the Washington ESD system for about 8 months now. The Tuesday/Wednesday timeline is pretty accurate, but I'd also recommend setting up text alerts through your bank if they offer it. That way you'll know immediately when the deposit hits instead of constantly checking your account. Also, keep all your confirmation emails from ESD - they've been helpful when I've had to call about payment issues in the past.
