Washington ESD office hours - when does the unemployment office close?

I need to visit a Washington ESD office in person but can't find consistent info online about their hours. Some sites say they close at 4:30pm, others say 5pm. Does anyone know the actual closing times? I work until 4pm so timing is really tight for me to get there before they close.

Most Washington ESD WorkSource offices close at 5pm Monday through Friday, but hours can vary by location. The main Seattle office on 2nd Ave closes at 5pm. What city are you trying to visit?

0 coins

I'm in Tacoma area. Thanks for the info, 5pm would work better for me than 4:30.

0 coins

Tacoma WorkSource closes at 5pm too but they sometimes stop taking walk-ins around 4:45pm if there's a long line

0 coins

honestly just call them before you go because I've shown up to find they closed early for staff training or something. super frustrating when you're trying to work around your own job schedule

0 coins

This is exactly why I started using Claimyr.com instead of trying to visit in person. You can get through to Washington ESD agents by phone without the hassle. There's even a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works.

0 coins

Never heard of that service, does it actually work? I've been trying to call Washington ESD for weeks

0 coins

Why do you need to go in person? Most things can be handled online through your SAW account or over the phone now

0 coins

I have an adjudication issue that's been pending for 6 weeks and online chat keeps disconnecting on me. Figured face to face might be better

0 coins

For adjudication issues you definitely want to speak with someone rather than just visit a WorkSource office. The WorkSource staff can't access your claim details.

0 coins

Wait are we talking about WorkSource offices or actual Washington ESD offices? Those are different things with different hours

0 coins

Good point - WorkSource offices are for job search help and general unemployment questions. Actual Washington ESD claim processing is done at their main offices and mostly by phone.

0 coins

Oh no, I think I've been planning to go to the wrong place then. What's the difference?

0 coins

WorkSource offices are partnership locations that help with job searches and basic unemployment questions. They close at 5pm generally. But for claim-specific issues like adjudication, you need to reach Washington ESD directly by phone. That's where services like Claimyr really help since Washington ESD phone lines are always busy.

0 coins

How much does Claimyr cost? I'm already broke from being unemployed

0 coins

It's worth checking out their site for current info. When I used it, the time saved versus trying to call for hours made it worthwhile for my situation.

0 coins

I went to the Everett WorkSource last month and they told me they can't help with pending claims or adjudication issues. They gave me the same phone number I already had for Washington ESD

0 coins

This is so confusing. So WorkSource can't actually help with claim problems?

0 coins

Correct. WorkSource is mainly for job search assistance and basic unemployment program info. Claim issues need Washington ESD directly.

0 coins

the whole system is set up to make it as hard as possible to get help. office hours that don't work for people with jobs, phone lines that hang up on you, websites that crash

0 coins

I feel this so much. Lost half a day of work trying to get through to them last week

0 coins

That's exactly why I tried Claimyr - I was spending more time trying to reach Washington ESD than actually job searching

0 coins

Most government offices have similar hours - 8am to 5pm weekdays. Some locations might close for lunch too

0 coins

Do they close for lunch? That would make it even harder to visit

0 coins

The WorkSource offices I've been to stay open through lunch but might have reduced staff

0 coins

For your adjudication issue, calling Washington ESD is really your best bet. WorkSource can't access your claim details or help resolve pending issues. The phone lines are busy but that's still the main way to get claim-specific help.

0 coins

I've tried calling so many times and either get busy signal or get disconnected after waiting on hold

0 coins

Same here, I've been trying for 3 weeks to get through about my disqualification

0 coins

try calling right when they open at 8am, sometimes easier to get through then

0 coins

I'll try that tomorrow morning. Do you know if 8am is when the phone lines open too?

0 coins

Yes, Washington ESD phone lines open at 8am Monday through Friday

0 coins

Just wanted to mention that I had success with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Got through to a Washington ESD rep in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks on my own. Really helped resolve my payment issue.

0 coins

20 minutes? That's incredible compared to what I've been dealing with

0 coins

I might have to try that for my disqualification appeal. Regular calling isn't working

0 coins

if you do go to a WorkSource office, bring ID and any paperwork related to your claim. even if they can't fix it they might be able to point you in the right direction

0 coins

Good advice, thanks. Though it sounds like calling is probably more effective for my situation

0 coins

The Spokane WorkSource closes at 4:30 on Fridays FYI. Hours can vary by location and day of the week

0 coins

Good to know, I'll definitely call ahead to confirm hours before making the trip

0 coins

For adjudication issues you really need to speak with someone who can see your file. WorkSource staff can't do that - only Washington ESD agents can access your claim details and help resolve pending issues.

0 coins

That makes sense. Sounds like I need to focus on getting through by phone rather than visiting in person

0 coins

Exactly. And if you do try Claimyr, they specifically help with getting through to Washington ESD agents, not WorkSource staff

0 coins

just a heads up that some offices have limited parking and you might need to pay for street parking if you do decide to visit

0 coins

Thanks for the warning. Between limited hours, parking costs, and them not being able to help with claim issues anyway, calling definitely seems like the better option

0 coins

Update: I finally got through to Washington ESD by phone this morning and got my payment issue resolved in 15 minutes. Way better than trying to visit an office that can't actually help with claims.

0 coins

That's encouraging! What time did you call to get through?

0 coins

Called right at 8am when they opened. Only waited about 10 minutes on hold

0 coins

Thanks everyone for clarifying the difference between WorkSource and Washington ESD offices. I'll try calling first thing tomorrow morning instead of trying to visit in person. Sounds like that's much more likely to actually help with my adjudication issue.

0 coins

Good plan! And if you can't get through with regular calling, that Claimyr service might be worth looking into as a backup option

0 coins

I'll keep that in mind if the morning calls don't work out. Really appreciate all the helpful advice here

Good luck with calling tomorrow morning Javier! I had a similar adjudication issue last year and it took me about 3 weeks of trying before I finally got through. The 8am timing tip is solid - that's when I eventually had success too. Just be prepared to potentially try multiple days since even calling right at opening doesn't guarantee you'll get through on the first try. But once you do connect with someone, they're usually pretty helpful with resolving the actual issue.

0 coins

Thanks for the encouragement Isla! It's reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing. I'm mentally preparing myself for it to take multiple attempts - at least now I know I'm not alone in this struggle. The fact that they're actually helpful once you get through gives me hope. I'll start calling at 8am sharp tomorrow and keep trying until I get through.

Just wanted to add that I successfully used Claimyr about a month ago when I was dealing with a similar adjudication delay. I was skeptical at first because I'd never heard of it, but after reading some positive reviews I decided to give it a try. Cost me around $20 but honestly it was worth every penny - got connected to a Washington ESD agent within 30 minutes and had my issue resolved that same day. For anyone who's been trying to call for weeks without success, it might be worth checking out. They have different service levels too so you can choose what fits your budget.

0 coins

Thanks for sharing your experience with Claimyr, Harmony! I'm definitely considering it as a backup option if I can't get through with regular calling tomorrow morning. $20 seems reasonable if it actually works - I've already lost more than that in time off work trying to deal with this issue. Did you have to provide them with your personal info to use the service, or how does it work exactly?
