Washington ESD claim approved but still showing pending adjudication - why did industrial production drop and unemployment go up again?
My Washington ESD claim was approved two weeks ago but my weekly claims are still showing 'pending adjudication' status. I work in manufacturing and got laid off when our plant reduced production last month. The timing is terrible because I'm seeing news about industrial production dropping and unemployment going up again across the state. Is this affecting how Washington ESD processes claims? My account shows I'm eligible but payments aren't coming through. Has anyone else experienced delays with approved claims still getting stuck in adjudication?

This is a common issue right now. Even with an approved claim, weekly certifications can get flagged for adjudication if there's any discrepancy in your work search activities or if you reported any earnings. Check your SecureAccess Washington account to see if there are any outstanding issues that need to be resolved.

•I checked SAW and don't see any issues listed. All my job search activities are logged correctly and I haven't had any earnings to report.

•Then it might be a system backlog issue. Washington ESD has been dealing with increased volume lately.

•How long did it take to resolve? I can't afford to wait much longer.

I had a similar situation recently and found a service called Claimyr that actually helped me get through to Washington ESD. They have some kind of system that monitors the phone lines and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me hours of calling. Check out claimyr.com - they even have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•Is this legit? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point.

•Yeah it's real. I was skeptical too but it actually worked. Got connected to an agent who cleared up my adjudication issue in about 10 minutes.

The manufacturing sector has been hit hard lately, and Washington ESD is seeing a surge in claims from industrial workers. This is creating backlogs in their adjudication system. Your approved status means you're eligible, but individual weekly claims still need to be processed. The industrial production decline you mentioned is definitely impacting claim volumes.

•That makes sense. I know several people from my plant who are also filing claims right now.

•Exactly. When entire industries see layoffs simultaneously, it overwhelms the system's capacity to process claims quickly.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I've been calling Washington ESD for TWO WEEKS and either get hung up on or sit on hold for hours. The system is completely broken. How are we supposed to survive while they take their sweet time figuring out their computer problems???

•I feel your frustration. It's really stressful when you're counting on these payments.

•I understand the frustration, but the agents are dealing with unprecedented volume right now. Keep trying different times of day.

Try calling right when they open at 8 AM. I got through on my third try doing that. They told me that approved claims can still have weekly adjudication if there's anything unusual in your job search log or if you answered any questions differently than usual.

•Good tip. I'll try calling first thing tomorrow morning.

•Make sure you have your claim number and Social Security number ready. They ask for both right away.

the economic situation is definitely making things worse. my neighbor works at a paper mill and they just announced more layoffs. seems like everyone is filing claims at the same time

•Yeah, it's been rough across all manufacturing sectors. Makes me worry about how long this will last.

Just wanted to follow up on the Claimyr thing - I used them again yesterday to get through about a different issue and it worked perfectly. They don't charge anything upfront and you only pay if they actually get you connected. Worth trying if you're stuck.

•I'm definitely going to try this. The traditional calling method isn't working for me.

•How much does it cost though? I'm already tight on money.

•They don't charge unless they connect you, and honestly it's worth it to get your benefits flowing again.

One thing to check - make sure you're completing your weekly claims correctly. If you're reporting job search activities, ensure you're logging them in WorkSourceWA as required. Any discrepancy between what you report on your weekly claim and what's in the system can trigger adjudication.

•I've been logging everything in WorkSourceWA. Could there be a delay in the systems syncing up?

Zainab Omar
•Yes, sometimes there's a delay between the systems. Give it 24-48 hours after logging activities before filing your weekly claim.

this whole situation reminds me of 2008 when i first filed for unemployment. took months to get everything sorted out. at least now there are more online options but the system still can't handle the volume

•That's not encouraging to hear. I really hope it doesn't take months this time.

The current economic situation with declining industrial production is creating a perfect storm for Washington ESD. Manufacturing layoffs tend to come in waves, overwhelming the adjudication system. Your best bet is to be persistent with phone calls or use a service like the one mentioned earlier to get through to an agent who can manually review your case.

i finally got through using that claimyr service someone mentioned. took like 20 minutes total instead of hours of calling. the agent said my adjudication was just a routine review and cleared it up immediately

The unemployment rate going up is definitely connected to these processing delays. When people can't access their benefits quickly, it creates additional economic stress that ripples through communities. Washington ESD really needs to invest in better systems.

•Absolutely. The delay in payments affects everything from rent to groceries.

check your payment history in your ESD account. sometimes payments get issued but don't show up immediately. mine took an extra day to appear even after the adjudication was cleared

Miguel Ortiz
•Good suggestion. I'll keep checking that section of my account.

I work in HR and we've had to lay off about 30% of our manufacturing workforce in the past two months. The combination of reduced demand and supply chain issues is hitting every industrial sector. No wonder Washington ESD is overwhelmed.

Miguel Ortiz
•That's really concerning. Do you think things will improve soon?

•Hard to say. Economic indicators are mixed right now. Best to focus on getting your benefits sorted out first.

Final update on Claimyr - I've now used them three times and it's worked every time. For anyone still struggling to get through to Washington ESD, it's definitely worth trying. The video demo on their site explains exactly how it works.

The whole situation with industrial production declining is really scary. My dad worked in manufacturing his whole career and never saw anything like this. At least unemployment benefits exist but the system needs to work better.

make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even if they're stuck in adjudication. you don't want to miss any deadlines while waiting for the system to catch up

This thread has been really helpful. I'm dealing with a similar situation and feel less alone knowing others are going through the same thing. The economic factors definitely explain why this is happening to so many people at once.
