Waited 3 weeks after ESD adjudicator interview - normal wait time for decision?
Had my adjudicator phone interview on Jan 17th and saw my 'as of date' change in the ESD portal the same day. It's been three weeks now and still no decision letter or update on my claim status. The suspense is killing me as I've been without income since December. Anyone know how long it typically takes to get a decision after talking to an adjudicator? Is three weeks normal or should I be worried something went wrong? My rent is due next week and I'm starting to panic.

In my experience, you should hear something within 7-10 business days after your adjudication interview. When your as-of date changes, it usually means they're actively processing your claim, but three weeks is definitely on the longer side. I'd recommend calling ESD to check if there's a hold-up or if they need additional information from you. Sometimes they make a decision but the letter gets delayed in the system or lost in the mail.

•Thanks! I've been trying to call ESD every day this week but can't get through - just keeps saying high call volume and disconnects me. Do you think I should try going to a WorkSource office in person instead?

•Ugh, 5 weeks? That's brutal. Did they backpay you for all those weeks once it was approved?

I WENT THROUGH THIS EXACT THING IN DECEMBER!!! Talked to adjudicator on Dec 2, as-of date changed, and then NOTHING for almost 4 WEEKS!! I called literally 47 times (counted on my phone) and couldn't get through to anyone. Finally got my approval letter on Dec 28th. The system is COMPLETELY BROKEN and they don't care at all about people waiting for their money!!! Keep trying to call though because sometimes there ARE issues they don't tell you about.

•That's exactly what I'm afraid of - some mystery issue they haven't told me about. Did you do anything special to finally get through to them? I'm desperate at this point.

•Nothing worked for me - I just had to wait it out. But I've heard some people have better luck calling right when they open at 8am. The whole system is designed to make you give up!!

Hey there, I actually found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to ESD when I was in a similar situation. My adjudication had been pending for weeks and I couldn't get any updates. The service basically holds your place in line and calls you when an ESD agent is available. Saved me from having to redial for hours. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it since I found out they needed one more document from me that was holding everything up.

•That sounds like exactly what I need right now. I'll check it out! Did they tell you how much longer your claim would take when you finally got through?

•Yeah, once I got through they told me exactly what was missing (turned out they needed verification from my previous employer that hadn't responded). After I provided that info, I got my decision within 5 business days. Good luck!

my brother in law works for esd and he says its taking longer now cuz they lost a bunch of staff after covid plus theyve got a new computer system that has problems lol. typical government stuff.

•This is accurate. ESD has been experiencing significant staffing shortages in their adjudication department. Standard processing time used to be 7-10 days after adjudication interviews, but currently, 2-4 weeks is more typical. Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims while waiting, as you'll qualify for back payments if approved. Also, check your Secure Message Center in eServices - sometimes they request additional information there without calling you.

hi so my situation was different but kind of similar? i had an adjudicator call me about my availability for work (i had some childcare issues) and my as of date changed but then nothing for like 2 weeks and i was freaking out but then i realized i never actually submitted my childcare documentation they asked for lol. maybe check if theres anything they requested that you missed? just a thought!

•I went back through all my messages and alerts just to check, but I don't see anything they've requested. During the interview, the adjudicator said she had everything she needed from me. So frustrating!

For everyone's reference, here's the current ESD timeline expectations: 1. After adjudication interview: 2-4 weeks for decision (longer during high volume periods) 2. If additional information is requested: clock restarts after they receive your information 3. If approved: payment typically processes 2-3 business days after decision 4. If denied: appeals must be filed within 30 days of decision letter date The most important thing is to continue filing weekly claims during this waiting period. If your claim is approved, you'll only receive payment for weeks properly claimed, regardless of how long the decision took. Also, check your spam/junk folders for ESD communications, as their emails sometimes get filtered.

•Thank you for this detailed breakdown. Looks like I'm still within the normal timeframe, though barely. I'll keep filing my weekly claims and hope for the best!
