Anyone know how long ESD adjudication REALLY takes in 2025?
I've been stuck in adjudication for what feels like forever now and I'm seriously starting to panic. Lost my job at the hospital 3 weeks ago (budget cuts, ugh) and filed my claim immediately. Got that confirmation email saying everything was received, but then boom—stuck in "adjudication" with zero explanation. My rent is $2,100 and due next week!!\n\nThe ESD website says adjudication takes 3-5 weeks but I've heard horror stories of people waiting MONTHS. Has anyone actually gotten through adjudication recently? How long did it take? And is there ANYTHING I can do to speed this up? I keep calling but just get that stupid automated message saying they're experiencing high call volumes.

Yeah, the ESD website is LYING about those timeframes. My adjudication took 9 WEEKS to resolve earlier this year! The system is completely broken. They put everything into \

9 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! Did calling eventually help or did they just tell you to keep waiting?

I recently went through adjudication with ESD and want to clarify a few things. There are different types of adjudication issues, which affect the timeline:\n\n1. Simple verification issues (like identity verification): typically 2-3 weeks\n2. Job separation issues (misconduct, voluntary quit): 4-6 weeks\n3. Availability/job search compliance: 3-5 weeks\n4. Complex issues involving multiple parties: 6-8+ weeks\n\nThe key is figuring out WHY you're in adjudication. Check your eServices dashboard for any alerts or requested documents. Sometimes they need something from you but the notification gets missed. Also, make sure you continue filing your weekly claims during adjudication - this is absolutely critical.

Thank you for breaking it down! I think mine is just a standard job separation issue (layoff). My dashboard doesn't show any alerts or document requests - just says

I had success using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent when I was stuck in adjudication for weeks. It's a service that basically holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me from endless redials! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 \n\nWhen I finally connected with an agent, they found that my adjudication was just waiting for supervisor review and were able to expedite it because I was facing eviction. Worth checking out if you're in a time crunch - their website is claimyr.com

Is this legit? Sounds sketchy to me...

It's definitely legit. I was skeptical too but it worked exactly as advertised. The ESD agent I spoke with actually told me lots of people are using it now because of how impossible it is to get through otherwise.

I work with unemployment claimants regularly, and I can tell you that 2025 adjudication timeframes have actually improved from previous years, though they still vary widely. For standard layoffs with no complicating factors, the current average is about 4 weeks.\n\nSome practical advice to potentially speed things up:\n\n1. Check if you have an adjudicator assigned yet (this info should be viewable in your eServices account)\n2. If you're experiencing financial hardship (like potential eviction), request an expedited review - there's a specific form for this in eServices under

Thank you SO much for this detailed info! I didn't know about the expedited review form - I'm definitely going to submit that today. And I'll try contacting my state rep too. I've been keeping meticulous records of my job search activities (actually doing 5 per week just to be safe). Really appreciate the help!

One thing nobody mentioned - if you had ANY gaps in employment in the last 18 months, that can trigger additional adjudication. Even a week between jobs can cause this. The system is designed to create problems, not solve them.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know I finally got through to ESD using the Claimyr service that someone suggested. The agent told me my claim was flagged for adjudication because my employer initially contested the layoff (apparently they coded it wrong in their system - ugh).\n\nThe good news is the agent was able to see that my employer had already corrected the information, and my claim was actually just sitting in queue waiting for final review. She expedited it based on my financial hardship and said I should see a decision within 3-5 business days!\n\nSo for anyone else stuck in adjudication - definitely worth trying to speak to an actual person rather than just waiting. Thanks everyone for your advice!

Great news! This is exactly why getting through to a live agent can make such a difference. Once you can speak with someone who can actually look at your specific case details, things often get resolved much faster. Glad to hear you'll be getting a decision soon!
