Status changed from Adjudication to Active on ESD - am I approved now?
I've been stuck in adjudication limbo for over a month and today I checked my ESD account and my status suddenly changed from 'Adjudication' to 'Active'. I'm confused about what this actually means. Does anyone know if this means my claim is officially approved? I've tried googling and searching the ESD website but there's no clear explanation of what an 'Active' status means versus being in adjudication. My anxiety is through the roof waiting for this claim to process, and I really need to know if I should expect payment soon or if this is just another step in the endless process. Thanks in advance for any help!

•THANK YOU!! Oh my gosh that's such a relief. My rent is due next week and I've been stressing so bad. Did they pay you for all the weeks you were waiting too?

Active status means your claim has been approved and is no longer under review. You should expect payment soon for any weeks you've already claimed, though it can take 2-3 business days for the payments to process through the banking system. Make sure you continue to file your weekly claims on time and meet all job search requirements (3 activities per week). Congrats on getting through adjudication!

•This isn't ALWAYS true though!! I had my claim switch to active for two weeks then go BACK to adjudication when they found some discrepancy with my employer's response. Don't count your chickens until you actually see the $$ in your account!!!

I hate how ESD doesn't clearly explain what these statuses mean! When I went through this last year, I called them like 20 times trying to find out what "Active" actually meant because I was paranoid they'd still find a reason to deny me. Such a frustrating system.

If you need to confirm what your Active status means or check when payments will be issued, I recommend using Claimyr to reach an ESD agent quickly. I was stuck trying to call for days before discovering it. They connect you directly to an ESD agent so you don't have to keep redialing. Check out their demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 or go to claimyr.com - saved me hours of frustration when my claim status changed and I needed clarification.

•Does this actually work? I've been trying to call ESD for a week straight and can't get through to anyone.

•It worked for me when my claim had issues in February. Got connected to an agent in about 40 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. The agent was able to explain my status change and tell me exactly when to expect payment.

Active status generally means your claim has been approved, but it's important to understand that ESD can still place holds on individual weekly payments if there are issues with specific weeks. For example, if you report earnings or miss job search activities for a certain week, that week might be flagged for review even though your overall claim is Active. In my experience, most people start receiving payments within 3-5 business days after their status changes to Active. You should be able to see pending payments in your payment history section once they're processed. If you don't see anything after a week, I would definitely contact ESD.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I just checked my payment history and there's nothing there yet, but it's only been a day since the status changed. I'll give it a few more days before I start worrying again.

BTW they should backpay you for all those weeks in adjudication as long as you filed your weekly claims during that time. that was a lifesaver for me when i finally got approved after waiting forever

I wish ESD would stop using these vague status terms without explaining what they mean anywhere on their website! My neighbor works for DSHS and she says they get constant calls from people confused about their claim status because the terminology is so unclear. Active should definitely mean approved though, so hopefully you'll see money soon!
