ESD adjudication GONE after 4 weeks - how quickly will I get paid?

Just checked my ESD account this morning and FINALLY saw some movement!! After sitting in adjudication for 4 solid weeks with absolutely zero changes, my claim status suddenly switched from 'pending' to 'paid' overnight! The adjudication status is completely gone from my account now. My question is - how long until the money actually hits my bank account? I'm down to my last $42 and rent is due next week. Also noticed something weird - the adjudication date changed to today's date right before it disappeared. Is that normal or is this some kind of new delay tactic? I haven't received any emails or notifications from ESD explaining what happened. Just really nervous they'll find some new reason to hold up my payment after all this waiting!

Congrats!! When mine switched from pending to paid last month, the money was in my account within 2 business days. If you have direct deposit set up correctly, you should see it pretty quick. The date change is totally normal - that's just when they resolved the adjudication. Did you ever get a fact-finding questionnaire or phone interview during those 4 weeks?

Thanks for the quick reply! That's a huge relief to hear it should come through in a couple days. I never got any questionnaire or phone call during the whole 4 weeks - that's why I was so confused. Just complete radio silence the entire time.

the date changing is just when they finished reviewing ur case. money usually comes in 2-3 days for most ppl but could take up to 5 business days depending on ur bank. congrats on getting approved!!

Thank you! That's such a relief to hear. The wait has been absolutely killing me.

Don't get too excited yet. Mine showed "paid" for a FULL WEEK before changing BACK to "pending" with ANOTHER adjudication. ESD is a COMPLETE MESS right now. I went through THREE separate adjudications before finally getting paid. They'll probably find some random employer from 5 years ago to question you about! 🤬

OMG are you serious?? That's terrifying. Did they give you any explanation for why it went back into adjudication after showing paid? I'll literally have a breakdown if that happens to me.

That's really unusual and definitely not the normal experience. Most claims that show as paid actually get paid. Let's not worry the OP unnecessarily - they've already waited a month.

The date change is completely normal and actually a good sign. When an adjudication is resolved, the system updates the date to reflect when the decision was made. As for payment, with direct deposit, you'll typically receive funds within 2 business days. If you're set up for the ESD debit card, it may take 3-4 business days. One important recommendation: take screenshots of your claim status showing the "paid" status. If there are any issues later, having documentation of what your account showed can be extremely helpful.

That's really smart advice about the screenshots - doing that right now! I have direct deposit set up, so hoping it comes through by Monday or Tuesday.

My sister had the exact same thing happen last week! Her money came through 3 days later so you should be good soon 👍

If you're concerned about the timing of your payment or want to confirm everything is processing correctly, I'd recommend using Claimyr to connect with an ESD agent directly. I was stuck in a similar situation and couldn't get through on the regular phone line for days. Used their service at claimyr.com and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who confirmed my payment was being processed. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Just having that confirmation directly from an agent gave me so much peace of mind rather than constantly checking the portal and wondering.

I've never heard of this before. Does it actually work? The ESD phone lines have been impossible - I tried calling at least 25 times during my adjudication period and either got disconnected or was on hold until the office closed.

Yes, it definitely works. They basically keep calling ESD for you until they get through, then connect you with the agent. Saved me hours of frustration. If your payment doesn't show up when expected, might be worth checking out.

Anyone know why mine has been in adjudication for SIX WEEKS now? Still no movement at all. So frustrating watching others get through while mine just sits there! Called 45+ times and can't get a human. Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm desperate for advice...

That's definitely longer than normal. You might want to try contacting your state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with stuck ESD claims. Also, make sure you've responded to any messages in your ESD portal inbox, as missed communication is the #1 reason for extended adjudication periods.

No worries about hijacking! I totally understand the frustration. I was about to contact my state rep this week if mine hadn't changed. Hope you get some movement soon!

Did you do anything special that might have triggered the resolution? Did you call them or submit any additional documentation during the 4 weeks? Might help others who are stuck to know what worked for you.

That's the weird part - I did absolutely nothing! I tried calling dozens of times but never got through. Never received any requests for documents. The only thing I made sure to do was file my weekly claims on time every single week, even though they were all stuck in pending. It seems like they just randomly got to my case in their backlog.

make sure ur bank account info is correct in the system!! my friend had his payment approved but the money went nowhere cuz he had an old account listed

Good point! Just double-checked and my bank info is all correct and matches what I've been using for years. Phew!

Just to give you some additional peace of mind - the fact that the adjudication status is completely gone (rather than showing 'completed' or 'denied') is the best possible outcome. It means they found nothing that would prevent payment. Your claim has essentially moved to standard processing now. For future reference for anyone reading this thread: the average adjudication period in Washington state is currently running 3-5 weeks for regular UI claims. PUA and PEUC claims are no longer active in 2025.

That makes me feel so much better! I wasn't sure if the disappearance was good or bad. So relieved to hear it's the best outcome possible!
