PFML payment delayed despite approved status - no deposit Monday

Has anyone else not received their PFML payment this week? I always file on Sunday and my money hits my account at exactly 3:09pm every Monday like clockwork. It's been that way for the past 8 weeks. Today my claim shows as 'approved' on the website, but nothing has been deposited yet and it's already 7pm. I checked my direct deposit info and everything is correct. Starting to get worried since I have rent due this Friday and absolutely need this money. Is there a holiday delay I don't know about? Anyone else experiencing this?

The same thing happened to me last month with my PFML benefit. Turned out there was a banking issue on ESD's end that affected several people. It eventually came through Wednesday morning instead of Monday. You should be fine but I'd suggest calling if it's not there by tomorrow afternoon. Paid Family Medical Leave payments are processed separately from regular unemployment, so they sometimes have different processing delays.

Thanks for letting me know! Did they say anything about it when you called? I'm going to wait til tomorrow afternoon like you suggested, but I'm still stressing about rent.

Thanks for the info - that actually makes me more concerned. I'm going to try calling them first thing tomorrow.

ESD sometimes has bank processing delays that affect only certain financial institutions. Which bank do you use for direct deposit? Bank of America and BECU customers experienced a similar delay back in February. The issue typically resolves within 48 hours. As a precaution, log into your PFML account and double-check that your weekly certification was fully processed and there are no alerts or action items in your dashboard. Sometimes the system shows "approved" but actually needs additional information that's only visible in a different section of your account.

I'm with Chase, and I double-checked my certification and there are no alerts or action items. Everything seems normal except for the missing money! I guess I'll give it another day and see what happens. Really hoping it comes through.

There was a notice on the ESD website this morning about system maintenance that might cause payment delays of 1-2 business days for some claimants. Did you check the alerts section? They don't always email about these things.

Where is the alerts section? I don't see anything like that on my account page. Would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction!

It's on the main ESD website homepage at esd.wa.gov - not in your account. You have to scroll down to see the System Alerts box. I just checked again and the maintenance alert is gone now, so maybe they fixed whatever the issue was.

I've been on PFML for 11 weeks now and had a similar issue once. My payment was delayed because of a bank holiday that wasn't obvious (Veterans Day I think). Check if yesterday was some obscure bank holiday. Also, SOMETIMES if you file earlier or later than usual on Sunday, it can throw off the timing. But honestly, calling ESD directly is your best bet. The problem is actually GETTING THROUGH to a human at ESD... I spent 4 days trying to reach someone last month about a different issue. After getting hung up on repeatedly, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get a callback from ESD without the wait. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it to get your payment issue resolved quickly, especially when you're counting on that money for rent.

Yeah, I've tried calling ESD before and it's basically impossible. I'll check if there was a bank holiday, but I don't think so. If my payment doesn't show up by tomorrow, I might try that Claimyr service. Thanks for the suggestion!

This EXACT thing is happening to me right now too!!! My PFML payment is also late and I'm freaking out. Called my bank and they said there's no pending deposits. My weekly claim shows approved since yesterday morning. I get paid every Tuesday normally but nothing today. Something must be going on with their system. Please update if yours comes through!!

Will do! It's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one, though obviously I wish neither of us were dealing with this. I'll post an update when/if my money comes through.

Just wanted to follow up - any update on your payment? Did it arrive yet?

YES! It just hit my account about an hour ago (Wednesday at 10:30am). No explanation for the delay, but at least it's here now. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

Mine too! Got it this morning. What a relief. Glad it worked out for both of us!

Great to hear both of you got your payments! This seems to be a recurring issue with PFML - I've noticed similar delays happening about once a month where payments that normally arrive Monday/Tuesday don't show up until Wednesday. It's frustrating because there's usually no advance notice or explanation. For future reference, it might be worth setting aside a small emergency buffer if possible, since these random delays seem to be part of the system unfortunately.

That's really good advice about keeping an emergency buffer. I learned that lesson the hard way this week! It's crazy that these delays happen so regularly with no warning. You'd think they could at least send out notifications when there are going to be processing delays. Thanks for sharing that insight - definitely going to try to save up a small cushion for next time.

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My PFML payment usually comes through every Monday at 2:45pm like clockwork, but nothing today. My claim status shows approved but no deposit. Reading through these comments gives me some hope that it's just a system delay and will show up by Wednesday. Really stressful when you're counting on that money for bills. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it helps to know I'm not alone in this!

You're definitely not alone! I just went through this exact same thing earlier this week. My payment was delayed by two days with no explanation, but it did eventually come through on Wednesday morning. It's so nerve-wracking when you're depending on that money for essentials. Based on what others have shared here, these random PFML delays seem to happen about once a month unfortunately. Hang in there - hopefully yours will show up soon too!

I'm going through the same thing right now too! My PFML payment is 2 days late and I'm starting to panic since I have car insurance due tomorrow. It's reassuring to read that others have experienced these random delays and the payments eventually came through. The lack of communication from ESD about these delays is really frustrating though - they should at least send out alerts when there are processing issues. I'm going to wait until Thursday and then try that Claimyr service someone mentioned if it doesn't show up. Thanks for posting about this - helps to know it's a system issue and not something wrong with my account specifically!

I'm in the exact same boat! My PFML payment is also 2 days late and I have rent due this Friday. It's so stressful when you're counting on that money for essential bills. Reading through all these comments has been really helpful though - it seems like these random delays happen fairly regularly with PFML and the payments do eventually come through, usually within 2-3 days. The lack of communication from ESD is definitely the most frustrating part. At least we know it's a system-wide issue and not something specific to our individual accounts. Fingers crossed both of our payments show up tomorrow!

I'm experiencing the exact same issue right now! My PFML payment is 3 days late and I'm getting really worried. I always file Sunday evening and get paid Tuesday mornings at 8:15am without fail - it's been consistent for 6 weeks straight. But this week nothing came through and my claim shows approved just like yours did. I called my bank and they confirmed no pending deposits. It's such a relief to read through these comments and see that this seems to be a recurring system issue with PFML rather than something wrong with my specific account. The lack of advance notice from ESD is really frustrating when people are depending on this money for rent and bills. I'm going to wait until Thursday and if nothing shows up, I'll definitely try that Claimyr service. Thanks for posting about this - it really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with these random delays!

I'm so sorry you're going through this stress too! It's awful when you're depending on that money for essentials and it just doesn't show up with no explanation. I'm new here but have been reading through all these comments, and it really does seem like these PFML payment delays are happening to a lot of people on a regular basis. The fact that your payment schedule has been so consistent for 6 weeks makes this delay even more concerning. I hope yours comes through soon - maybe by tomorrow morning like some of the others experienced. Keep us updated if you can! It's reassuring to know we're all dealing with the same system issues together.

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! My PFML payment is usually deposited every Monday at 11:30am and has been consistent for the past 5 weeks, but nothing came through this week either. My claim shows approved and I've double-checked all my banking info - everything looks correct. It's really stressful when you're counting on that money for basic expenses. Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually pretty reassuring though - it seems like these random PFML delays are unfortunately common and the payments do eventually show up within a few days. I'm going to wait until tomorrow and see if it comes through, but it's frustrating that ESD doesn't give any advance warning about these processing delays. Thanks to everyone for sharing their situations - it really helps to know this is a system-wide issue and not something wrong with individual accounts!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm brand new to this community and dealing with the exact same PFML payment delay right now. My payment is 2 days late and I was starting to think something was seriously wrong with my account. Reading through everyone's experiences has been such a relief - it's clear this is a recurring system issue that affects multiple people regularly. It's really frustrating that ESD doesn't provide any advance notice about these delays, especially when people are relying on this money for rent and essential bills. I'm going to follow the advice here and wait a couple more days before trying to contact them. Thanks to everyone for sharing their situations - it's so helpful to know we're not dealing with this alone!
