Must I appeal EACH disqualified week separately with ESD or file one appeal?
I'm completely baffled by the appeal process! I got laid off from my warehouse job 5 weeks ago and started filing weekly claims right away. Now EVERY single week in my ESD account shows 'disqualified' status. Do I seriously need to file a separate appeal for each individual week? Or can I file one master appeal that covers all the disqualified weeks? The letter I got mentions something about 'appealable decisions' but doesn't clarify if I need multiple appeals. The deadline for the first disqualified week is coming up in 3 days and I'm panicking. Has anyone dealt with multiple disqualifications at once?

•Seriously?? That's going to be so much paperwork. Did you end up filing separate appeals? Did they give you any reason why they can't be combined?

You need to look carefully at the disqualification notices to see if they all have the SAME disqualification reason. If they do (like failing to complete job search activities or availability issues), then you can typically file ONE appeal that references ALL the affected weeks. Make sure to list each week's date range in your appeal letter. However, if there are DIFFERENT reasons for disqualification across different weeks, you'll need separate appeals for each reason type. The important thing is to get your first appeal filed before the deadline passes, and make sure to keep filing your weekly claims during the appeal process!

•This isn't entirely accurate. I went through this last year and ESD specifically told me each week requires its own separate appeal because each weekly claim is considered a separate decision. It's incredibly frustrating but that's their process. You technically CAN reference other weeks in one appeal, but they'll likely only process it for the specific week that the appeal form indicates.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN!!! All my weeks were disqualified because they said I didn't respond to some fact-finding questionnaire that I NEVER received in the first place! The ESD system is completely broken and they make everything as difficult as possible so people give up. I filed separate appeals for each week because I was afraid of missing something and it took FOREVER to get resolved. 10 weeks of waiting and they finally fixed it, but I had to fight like crazy.

•Wow that sounds horrible! Did you call them during those 10 weeks? I've been trying to reach someone at ESD for days but can't get through.

I recommend filing a separate appeal for each disqualified week. While it seems redundant, each weekly claim is technically a separate decision by ESD. Here's what to do: 1. File your first appeal ASAP before the deadline expires 2. Use the exact same reason/explanation for each appeal if all disqualifications are for the same issue 3. Reference your other appeals in each form 4. KEEP FILING your weekly claims even while appealing 5. If you haven't already, try to speak with an ESD agent who might be able to resolve this without the appeal process I've seen cases where some people filed one appeal for multiple weeks and it worked, but I've also seen cases where ESD only processed the appeal for the specified week. Better safe than sorry.

•I tried calling ESD for over a week when I was in a similar situation and couldn't get through to anyone. I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I talked to was actually really helpful and fixed my disqualification issue without me having to go through the whole appeal process. Might be worth trying before you fill out all those appeal forms.

my cousin works for WorkSource and she said always file separate appeals because ESD processes each week individually. something about their computer system being really old and not connecting things properly. good luck!

Just to follow up - as others have mentioned, filing separate appeals is the safest approach. But make sure you understand WHY you were disqualified in the first place. Common reasons include: - Not completing required job search activities (must do 3 per week) - Availability issues (saying you weren't available for work) - Unreported earnings - Separation issues (how you left your previous job) If you can address the underlying issue, you might be able to get this resolved faster than going through the entire appeal process. For example, if it's about job search activities and you actually did them but didn't report properly, you might be able to submit that documentation directly.

•The disqualification letter mentions something about my 'availability for work' which doesn't make sense because I've been completely available. I checked the 'yes' box for 'able and available' every week. Maybe I answered something else wrong? I'm wondering if it's because I said I couldn't work one specific day for a medical appointment, but that was just one day out of the week. So frustrating!

UPDATE: I spoke with an ESD agent this morning after using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. The agent explained that in my case, all my weeks were disqualified for the same reason - apparently checking 'no' to a question about being physically able to work (which I don't remember doing). The agent said I should file ONE appeal for the earliest disqualified week and explicitly mention that I'm appealing ALL weeks with the same disqualification reason. She said to list every disqualified week by date in my appeal letter. She also put a note in my file about this conversation. So it seems like there might be different processes depending on your specific situation. The key is reaching an actual agent who can give you guidance for your particular case. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Thank you so much for the update! I'm going to try Claimyr right now. Hoping I can get the same result and avoid having to file 5 separate appeals. Will report back with what I find out.
